Macquarie Cloud Services signs 5-year deal with FirstWave
Tue, 12th Jul 2022
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Macquarie Cloud Services, part of the Macquarie Telecom Group, has committed to a five-year deal with FirstWave Cloud Technology for the provision of network monitoring and intelligence software. The agreement went forth following advice provided to shareholders in its Q3 Update.

The solution from FirstWave will help to provide Macquarie Cloud Services with the network intelligence to achieve their goals of having a single-pane-of-glass view of critical systems, according to a statement.

Dubbed by Macquarie Cloud Services as their ‘Manager of Managers', this strategic objective will be achieved through the sophisticated integration capabilities of FirstWave's NMIS Suite of products. Through these, the organisation will be able to consolidate management of tools and network infrastructure element managers, centralising visibility of critical systems to provide improved efficiency and control.

Underpinning the solution for Macquarie Cloud Services is software developed by Opmantek Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of FirstWave since January 2022. These network monitoring systems provide automation and network intelligence to organisations worldwide, including Microsoft, Telmex and NASA. FirstWave's NMIS is part of the portfolio of products that came with the company's acquisition.

The minimum value for the initial tranche of devices to be monitored over the term of the contract is $559K. Revenue will flow immediately to FirstWave (July 2022) and is anticipated to grow substantially over time as Macquarie increases the number of devices monitored by NMIS, the company wrote in a statement.

FirstWave CEO and managing director Danny Maher says, “We are thrilled to be selected as Macquarie's vendor of choice in this critical area of their business. Working within Macquarie's standard supplier terms of agreement, the five-year nature of the agreement together with the thoroughness of the decision making process and NMIS's proven track record makes us confident we will meet and exceed Macquarie's expectations.

Macquarie's commitment also reflects FirstWave's strategy to broaden and deepen its relationships with major suppliers of device monitoring and cybersecurity services in the Australian market, according to the statement.

Maher continues, “Following the acquisition of Opmantek, our strategy has been to focus on helping service providers and telcos succeed, with this long-term commitment from Macquarie Cloud Services helping to validate our strategy.

“Macquarie Telecom Group is a major telco, cloud and data centre services provider to business and government in Australia. Their commitment broadens our current channel to the Australian market and, with the broad portfolio of products now available from FirstWave, I look forward to the opportunity to deepen our relationship across other areas of the Group over time.

Having chosen FirstWave following a rigorous evaluation process, group executive for Macquarie Cloud Services, James Mystakidis, says, “We are pleased to be working with FirstWave to implement a new level of network monitoring and automation within our business. We believe their software will help us to be more efficient in how we manage our network, and improve outcomes for our customers.

Maher concludes, “We are thrilled to be selected by Macquarie Cloud Services as their vendor of choice in this critical area of their business. We are proud to be providing them with more than just a network monitoring solution, but the ability to integrate seamlessly with their existing systems, at scale.
