Mon, 7th Jul 2025

Mark Winter, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of inTechnology Distribution, has been appointed to the Executive Council of the IoT Alliance Australia (IoTAA) and will also co-lead the organisation's Healthcare Workstream.

IoTAA is recognised as Australia's peak industry body working to accelerate the adoption and impact of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies across diverse sectors. The Executive Council serves as the principal decision-making authority and includes experienced leaders from industry, government, and academia who guide initiatives on IoT interoperability, cybersecurity, sustainability, skills development, and emerging standards.

Healthcare workstream

In his dual role, Mark Winter will also become one of the leaders of the IoTAA Healthcare Workstream. This group seeks to define and promote the use of trusted data and technology in healthcare, encompassing clinical settings, wellbeing, and in-home care applications. The workstream's goals are to drive improved outcomes, operational performance, and enhanced care delivery by leveraging connected, secure, and human-centred technology.

With a career spanning more than 25 years, Mark Winter has a background in enterprise mobility, real-time location systems, and IoT-driven transformation. His experience covers the deployment of connected technologies aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and outcomes within complex environments such as hospitals, aged care facilities, manufacturing, and logistics.

"I'm honoured to join the Executive Council of IoTAA, especially at such a pivotal time for the Australian IoT ecosystem. This is an opportunity to drive cross-industry collaboration, shape national policy, and ensure emerging technologies deliver real-world value and not just hype," said Mark Winter. "Working in the Healthcare Workstream will allow me to bring together innovators and stakeholders to address some of the sector's most critical challenges with connected solutions."

As CEO of inTechnology Distribution, Mark Winter has driven collaborative partnerships with international organisations active in IoT, mobile duress, and critical communications. His efforts have concentrated on making technology more practical and impactful for frontline workforces. Many of these outcomes have focused on practical solutions for the healthcare and logistics sectors throughout Australia and internationally.

Industry response

Frank Zeichner, CEO of the IoT Alliance Australia, welcomed the appointment, commenting on the value Mark Winter's experience brings to the council and the sector.

"Mark joining the Executive Council and leadership within the Healthcare Workstream comes at an exciting time for the IoT sector," said Frank Zeichner, CEO of the Internet of Things Alliance Australia (IoTAA).
"His depth of experience in deploying real-world IoT solutions, particularly in high-stakes environments like healthcare, brings valuable insight to our mission. With trusted data and technology playing an increasingly vital role across clinical, wellbeing, and in-home care, Mark's leadership will help ensure that innovation remains grounded in impact, interoperability, and benefit to Australians."

The IoTAA's efforts focus on fostering collaboration across a large membership base drawn from industry, government, and the research sector. Workstreams such as the one led by Mark Winter are aimed at supporting practical applications of IoT technologies—specifically those that can address key challenges in healthcare delivery and operational performance.

According to IoTAA, the Healthcare Workstream is positioned to play a significant role as higher demand for digital solutions in clinical, wellbeing, and home care sectors creates opportunities and challenges for providers, policymakers, and technology companies in Australia.

Mark Winter's simultaneous responsibilities at inTechnology and within IoTAA are expected to enhance the sector's ability to collaborate and create interoperable, secure, and evidence-based solutions that benefit both professionals and patients in Australia's healthcare system.
