Marketron cuts costs & boosts stability with 11:11 Cloud move
11:11 Systems has announced that Marketron has migrated its cloud infrastructure needs to the 11:11 Cloud, eliminating recurring hardware maintenance and reducing operational costs.
Marketron, a software-as-a-service provider working with over 7,000 media organisations and overseeing approximately USD $7 billion in annual advertising revenue in the United States, had been managing the complications associated with legacy hardware and the ongoing demand for investment in infrastructure, including periodic capital outlay of USD $300,000 every three to four years for equipment refresh cycles.
Evaluating options
Due to these escalating infrastructure burdens, Marketron began evaluating alternatives from various major hyperscale cloud companies. However, those options were ultimately found to be incompatible with Marketron's financial and operational expectations.
"We looked at several hyperscale cloud providers and it was the same across the board: The costs were simply higher than our budget. When we connected with 11:11 Systems, they created a pricing model that made sense and solved so many of our pain points. 11:11 Cloud allowed our team to focus purely on application availability and performance rather than worrying about hardware and data centres. Today, we just focus on keeping our own software running and that's it," said Cory Wolfley, VP of IT and Support Services at Marketron.
The decision to transition to 11:11 Systems was driven by the company's ability to offer scalable and reliable enterprise cloud services while aligning with Marketron's budgetary and technical requirements. 11:11 Systems provided a tailored approach to cloud migration, unlike the more standardised, one-size-fits-all offerings Marketron considered elsewhere.
Operational benefits
Following the migration, Marketron reported immediate improvements to its platform's stability and experienced a significant reduction in service outages. The partnership also made it possible for the IT department to reallocate focus from continually managing physical hardware and remote data centre logistics to more strategic projects intended to improve customer experience and support business growth objectives.
Building on these outcomes, Marketron expanded its engagement with 11:11 Systems to include 11:11 Backup for Microsoft 365 and 11:11 Object Storage for Amazon S3. These additions further optimised the company's data protection and storage strategy while maintaining a focus on cost-efficiency.
With its new cloud environment, Marketron can continue to serve more than 1.5 million advertisers across numerous revenue streams including traditional radio, owned and operated media, and digital media services, without being constrained by the limitations and costs of ongoing hardware refreshes.
