Mercy Health to modernise HR management using Workday's HCM platform
Mon, 11th Dec 2023

Mercy Health, a healthcare provider with over a century of service, plans to enhance its human resources management with the implementation of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM). The move forms part of an HR transformation initiative aimed to modernise people management and enrich support for employees and the communities they serve. The Workday platform enables leading healthcare providers worldwide to utilise AI and machine learning for in-depth insights and task automation, positioning them to concentrate on patient care.

Providing a gamut of public health and aged care services, Mercy Health has a compassionate approach towards people at all stages of life. Their offering encompasses acute and sub-acute hospital care, maternity and specialist women's and newborn health services, mental health programmes, palliative care services, early parenting services, home care, and health worker training and development. Serving the most vulnerable in the community, the organisation's workforce exceeds 10,000 personnel.

The importance of attracting, engaging, and retaining talent is not lost on Mercy Health. With an outdated recruiting system, the healthcare provider sought a new recruitment and people management solution to distinguish it in the competitive health landscape. A crucial requirement was the ability to construct a smooth candidate recruitment experience from initiation to conclusion. After deliberating over various options, Mercy Health selected Workday as the optimal integrated HCM system to bolster people processes across the entire employee lifecycle, from hire to retire.

Workday's platform will enable Mercy Health to offer a best practice, contemporary employee experience via a modern digital interface. The cloud-based, scalable system can easily accommodate the addition of new locations and teams, making it an ideal partner for future growth. The functionality also includes intelligent hiring processes utilising the power of AI and machine learning and supporting employee engagement through mobile capabilities.

Mary-Anne Gallagher, Mercy Health's Chief People Officer, expressed the company's commitment to empowering their workforce. "We aim to nurture our team and their professional growth," she said. In addition, Gallagher exhorted the benefits of Workday's integrated approach in streamlining processes and building teams truly focused on what matters the most – patient care.

Jo-Anne Ruhl, Vice President and Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand at Workday, reinforced this sentiment. "The easier we can make processes like HR and people management, the more time they can dedicate to community care," she stated, adding that Workday felt proud to partner with Mercy Health in transforming how it engages and manages the employees' experience.
