Thu, 23rd Apr 2020
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Micro Focus has launched a global corporate social responsibility (CSR) program designed to help the company achieve its goals of becoming a socially and environmentally responsible enterprise.

Its approach, called Micro Focus INSPIRE, covers key areas including its relationships with employees, customers, and suppliers. It also outlines how the company could use its market presence to serve communities.

The company plans to hold a North American US customer event in which all sponsorship dollars will be donated to charities on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19.

To empower all global employees to further help and support their local communities impacted by COVID-19, Micro Focus has added two further volunteering days for each employee in addition to the two that were already available

In India, more than 3000 employees raised over $20,000. The funds will be The Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) and used for combatting, containment and relief efforts against the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as similar pandemic-like situations in the future.

Closer to home, Micro Focus Australia and New Zealand managing director Peter Fuller says that Australia is ‘the lucky country', even with adversity such as the bushfires and COVID-19.

“In all of this, we have seen the true-blue Aussie spirit emerge as the has nation has stepped up to support each other and those less fortunate. This Aussie spirit is the defining characteristic of the Micro Focus ANZ team, our partners and our customers. We are tremendously excited by the Micro Focus INSPIRE program and committed to leveraging the five pillars to drive better outcomes for all Australians.

Those five pillars shape behaviours, culture, and decision-making across the enterprise. They are employees, marketplace, ethics - values, environment - sustainability, and community - social impact.

The company explains the pillars further:

  • The commitment to employees and treating them with respect and offering a great place to work
  • The commitment to the marketplace demonstrating to customers, partners and suppliers Micro Focus is a 'great' company to do business with
  • The commitment to ethics - values and doing business the right way with trust and integrity
  • The commitment to environment - sustainability - reducing environmental impact
  • The commitment to community - social impact helping to equip communities with the skills to thrive in the digital future.

Every company has the opportunity to make a difference, not just to the lives of their own employees by creating an inclusive and empowering work environment, but also to the communities in which they live and work,” says Micro Focus CMO Genefa Murphy.

“At Micro Focus we believe that by upholding the highest ethical standards and conducting business responsibly for our employees, our clients, our supply chain and the environment, we will have the opportunity to help shape societal change through our business.

Micro Focus says it intends to embed the program into the culture of the company by empowering employees and helping them to understand the role the company can play towards social responsibility.
