NEC Australia has appointed Mike Sellars as Vice President – Chief Technology Office (CTO) to lead its technology strategy.
The new role is part of NEC's ongoing commitment to develop solutions for government and enterprise clients, with an increasing focus on innovation and technology leadership. Based in Perth, which hosts NEC's Australian Centre of Excellence in digital government, Sellars' appointment highlights NEC's investment in the region and aims to strengthen their national capabilities while enhancing engagement with customers and partners in Western Australia.
Sellars, an IT executive with over 25 years of experience in technology strategy, innovation, and business transformation, re-joins NEC after previously serving in senior roles within the company. He has notably contributed to NEC's GovNext programme and, prior to his return, held the position of Chief Technology Officer at Datacom, where he led strategic initiatives and digital solutions.
Keith Morrison, Senior Vice President – Digital Government | Digital Finance at NEC Australia, spoke about Sellars' appointment, noting its significance to NEC's strategy: "The appointment of Mike Sellars as Vice President of our newly created Chief Technology Office underscores NEC's commitment to our next era of technology leadership and innovation in Australia.
"With his extensive expertise, industry knowledge, and proven track record, Mike will be instrumental in shaping NEC's technology direction and delivering high-value, future-ready solutions for our clients."
In his capacity as Vice President – Chief Technology Office, Sellars will manage solution development, enhance NEC's architecture practice, and drive the advancement of NEC's digital and managed services offerings.
Commenting on his new role, Sellars stated: "NEC has a strong legacy of delivering innovative, high-impact technology solutions, and I'm excited to build on that foundation.
"With a focus on driving technology strategy and enhancing NEC's digital and managed services, I look forward to working with the team on transformative solutions for our customers."
The appointment of Sellars aligns with NEC's broader effort to fortify its senior leadership team, setting the company on course for a new phase of growth and technological advancement. Recently, NEC has made several senior leadership appointments, including Godwin Chai as Head of Sales Australia and Lynne Barry as Vice President of Legal & Compliance, as Paul Reed retires. These appointments reflect NEC's dedication to creating a highly capable leadership team to address the changing needs of its clients.
