Navman has launched its 2026 MiVue dash cam range in Australia, adding new parking and recording features across several models.

The line-up includes four products: the MiVue 280 Safety, MiVue Smart True 4K, MiVue Smart True 4K DC and MiVue Smart True 4K Surround. Prices start at AUD $189 for the entry model and go up to AUD $529 for the three-camera Surround system.

Central to the update is Integrated Smart Parking, built into selected devices instead of relying on a separate unit. The feature is available on the MiVue Smart True 4K, Smart True 4K DC and Smart True 4K Surround, and is designed to monitor vehicles while parked when installed with a hard wiring kit.

The built-in system is intended to reduce the risk of battery drain by switching the dash cam off if voltage falls below a set level or after a preset time. Parking functions include a time-lapse mode that compresses longer recordings into short clips, and an on-demand mode that lets users start parking recording when needed.

Navman is also rolling out Extended Recording Mode across the full range. The setting cuts file sizes by about half without reducing resolution, allowing drivers to store more footage on the same SD card before recordings are overwritten.

All models also include Smart Safety Camera Alerts and Average Speed Camera Alerts. The warnings adjust according to vehicle speed, while average speed zones display remaining distance and time, current average speed and the posted limit.

Research commissioned by Navman found that 47% of Australian drivers had experienced damage to their vehicle while away from it. More than one in 10 said they were unable to gather any evidence, while only 13% of incidents resulted in a note being left behind.

Wendy Hammond, General Manager at Navman, said the findings helped shape the latest range.

“We know that accidents and damage don't always happen when you're behind the wheel and as the research shows, in many cases drivers are left without the evidence they need,” Hammond said.

“That's why our 2026 MiVue range goes beyond standard recording, giving Australians reliable coverage on the road and while parked.”

The MiVue 280 Safety is the entry point in the range. It records in True 2.5K and includes safety and average speed camera alerts, premium driver alerts, Wi-Fi sharing, a supercapacitor and support for parking mode through an optional hard wiring kit.

In the middle of the line-up, the MiVue Smart True 4K and MiVue Smart True 4K DC record in True 4K. Both include integrated parking mode, with a hard wiring kit supplied, along with camera alerts, Wi-Fi sharing, extended recording and premium driver alerts.

The MiVue Smart True 4K DC adds a rear camera that records in True 2.5K and includes Tailgating Warnings. The feature provides visual and audible warnings when a following vehicle is too close, while also recording activity behind the car.

Research cited by Navman found that 37% of Australians had experienced tailgating in the past year. Tailgating warnings on the DC model operate when the vehicle is travelling at 40km/h or above.

The highest-priced model, the MiVue Smart True 4K Surround, uses a three-camera system to capture front, rear and side views. The front camera records in True 4K Ultra HD, while a second compact unit combines a 2.5K rear camera with a 2.5K interior and side-impact camera featuring a 170-degree field of view.

The setup is intended to capture side-swipes, T-bone collisions and lane-change incidents through the side windows, as well as activity behind the vehicle. For the new model year, Navman has added integrated parking mode, safety camera alerts and extended recording to the Surround system.

Hammond linked the focus on image quality to the difficulties drivers can face after a collision.

“According to recent research commissioned by Navman, nearly one in three Australians have been in an accident where it has been difficult to prove they weren't at fault, highlighting that clear, high-quality video is essential,” Hammond said.

All 2026 MiVue models record in True 2.5K or higher. The 2.5K units use at least 4-megapixel sensors, while the 4K models use 8-megapixel sensors.

Other features across the range include Wi-Fi footage transfer to smartphones, monthly camera alert updates through the MiVue Pro app, and supercapacitors instead of standard batteries. All models are designed for straightforward installation with a 12V-24V adapter, while parking mode requires a hard wiring kit on compatible devices.

The MiVue Smart True 4K is priced at AUD $269, the Smart True 4K DC at AUD $369 and the Smart True 4K Surround at AUD $529.
