New Relic unveils Intelligent Observability Platform with AI

Today

New Relic has introduced its Intelligent Observability Platform, aiming to shift observability from a reliability concern to a catalyst for business growth and developer efficiency.

The new platform is reinforced by the New Relic AI Engine, designed to anticipate issues and automate workflows.

"New Relic Intelligent Observability marks the third wave of observability—dynamic, agentic, and impactive," said Ashan Willy, Chief Executive Officer of New Relic.

"With macro trends of data explosion, AI, and a need for business and developer velocity, current observability platforms fall short. Observability must evolve to dynamically understand ever-changing environments, agentically automate operations, and show how system performance drives business impact. Intelligent Observability is the future of digital business and we're taking the first step toward this future for our customers."

An advanced AI engine underpins New Relic Intelligent Observability by predicting potential issues, evaluating their impacts, and providing intelligent recommendations to prevent problems. Utilising both compound and agentic AI systems, the platform integrates multiple AI models to handle various complex tasks. The agentic AI ensures reduced workload on developers by automating processes, offering even external tool capabilities. This system allows users, from seasoned developers to business analysts, to query and receive insights in straightforward language.

The platform's integration with GitHub Copilot boosts developer productivity by addressing a common software development pitfall: issues stemming from frequent code changes. The combined AI agents from New Relic and GitHub Copilot evaluate code changes in real-time, thereby reducing manual intervention, minimising disruption risks, and enhancing software quality. This integration helps organisations using GitHub efficiently deliver software.

New Relic Pathpoint and the Retail Solution further develop the concept of business observability. According to the New Relic 2024 Observability Forecast, a significant number of businesses plan to implement business observability measures, with 69% intending to do so by 2025 and 87% by 2027.

New Relic Pathpoint links digital insights to business performance indicators, facilitating access to observability data for various roles within an organisation—not limited to technical teams. Key enhancements in Pathpoint include no-code user journey modelling, new playback functionalities for historical performance evaluation, and machine learning-enhanced business insights that improve incident response and recovery.

"Intelligence is the next essential evolution in observability. As businesses aim to capitalise on future business opportunities, they are using AI to run autonomous operations and connect system insights to business health," remarked Stephen Elliot, Group Vice President at IDC. "This evolution places agentic AI agents with additional analytic methods at the centre of operational excellence, innovation, and growth."

The New Relic Intelligent Observability Platform, along with New Relic Pathpoint and the New Relic Retail Solution, is currently available. The Limited Preview of the integration between New Relic AI and GitHub is open to those interested in participating, with further information available via direct correspondence.
