Nozomi Networks & SEL strengthen cybersecurity partnership

Thu, 22nd Aug 2024

Nozomi Networks and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) have solidified their partnership through a reseller agreement and certification of expertise for Nozomi Networks’ cybersecurity software. This development is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the security of critical infrastructure industries worldwide.

Critical infrastructure sectors, which must deliver continuous services, are governed by stringent regulations to ensure high availability. SEL Cyber Services assists customers in navigating security requirements such as NERC CIP, IEC 62443, NIST Risk Management Framework, and the SOCI Act. As these standards continue to mature, there is an increasing need for expansive internal network security monitoring. Nozomi Networks solutions fulfil these needs by facilitating network monitoring and helping to comply with reporting rules.

Will Edwards, Head of Cyber Services at SEL, said, “Customers depend on SEL to deliver secure solutions, and Nozomi Networks’ AI-powered platform aids us in achieving this. By giving customers an easy option to integrate the Nozomi Networks platform into SEL Software-Defined Networks, customers have access to advanced solutions designed to strengthen the reliability and availability of their services and help them more easily address a rising sea of regulatory and compliance requirements.”

Information technology and cybersecurity play critical roles in ensuring the uninterrupted service of power utilities. Many cyber and physical control systems supporting these utilities utilise Ethernet networks for their safety and reliability functions. Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories' Cyber Services helps customers worldwide understand operational risks and implement scalable cybersecurity and networking solutions tailored to meet rigorous industry standards.

SEL’s OT-Software-Defined Networks (SDN) are specifically designed for environments where unauthorised devices and traffic should be denied by default. By integrating Nozomi Networks’ Vantage cloud-hosted security platform, customers gain complete control over traffic flows, eliminating the need for additional traffic taps or aggregators and enabling more efficient data aggregation.

Chet Namboodri, Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at Nozomi Networks, remarked, “For more than four decades, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has been making electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical worldwide. We share SEL’s mission and are pleased to combine our strengths to ensure that future generations have the means to pursue an increasingly higher quality of life.”

This partnership allows for the easy deployment of Nozomi Networks’ OT and IoT continuous monitoring solution onto industrial networks, leveraging Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories' extensive experience and support resources. Customers can now benefit from the combined expertise of both companies to address their complex cybersecurity needs and regulatory requirements.
