NVIDIA partners with Getty Images to revolutionise AI content creation

Thu, 22nd Aug 2024

NVIDIA has announced its support for Getty Images and iStock in the deployment of AI-driven image and asset generation. In its recent AI Decoded blog, NVIDIA unveiled details about its AI Foundry and NVIDIA Edify, tools designed to enable users to train generative AI models on their own licensed data. These tools are set to empower designers and developers to create a variety of media, ranging from images and videos to 3D assets and 360-degree high-dynamic-range imaging.

NVIDIA Edify's latest iteration promises substantial advancements in asset generation. Users can now produce four high-quality 1k resolution images in approximately six seconds. These images can be further enhanced to 4k resolution using a generative upscaler that adds additional details. Edify is equipped with several key features, such as the ability to generate multiple types of content, high training efficiency with fewer images, and the option to fine-tune models to match specific styles or learn unique characters or objects.

Images generated using Edify are highly modifiable. Users can change camera controls, such as the length or depth of field, and can also alter specific sections of an image through drawings and text prompts. Additional features include InPaint, which allows for adding or modifying content within an image; Replace, a strict InPaint function that can change details like clothing; and OutPaint, which can expand the image to different aspect ratios. Segment is another feature that simplifies the masking of objects using text prompts.

Edify enables advanced multimodal workflows by combining different asset types. An example highlighted in the AI Decoded blog post was NVIDIA Research's SIGGRAPH demo, which showcased the capability to build 3D worlds using simple text prompts. This demonstration displayed how users can prototype a full scene within minutes by leveraging Edify-powered models and the NVIDIA Omniverse platform.

One of the evident practical applications of Edify can be seen through its use by Getty Images. Getty Images utilised NVIDIA's AI Foundry to train an Edify Image model, which now powers its generative AI service. This service was trained on Getty Images' licensed content to ensure the exclusion of famous faces or products from the dataset. Additionally, Getty Images shares a portion of the profits with contributors, creating a new revenue stream for creators.

The services are available through Generative AI by Getty Images for enterprises and Generative AI by iStock for small businesses and amateur creators. These tools allow users to generate and modify images with the help of NVIDIA Edify-powered models. Getty Images and iStock have also updated to the latest version of Edify Image, resulting in faster generations and better adherence to prompts. Additionally, Camera Controls are now exposed for more precise modifications.

Users can also leverage generative AI tools on pre-shot creative content to edit and perfect images quickly. This capability will soon be extended to Gettyimages.com, enhancing the utility of the Getty Images library for rapid content iteration.

Integrating NVIDIA's advanced AI tools with Getty Images and iStock represents a significant leap in the capabilities available to content creators. By harnessing the power of generative AI, these platforms offer users enhanced flexibility and efficiency in producing high-quality, customisable media assets.
