PayFit rolls out contextual HR AI copilot to staff

Fri, 23rd Jan 2026

PayFit has opened its PayFit Copilot AI agent to employees on its platform, offering personalised answers on employment contracts, pay and leave inside its payroll and HR environment.

The company said the product now gives 220,000 employees access to a personal AI agent. It can respond to queries on contract terms, payslips and leave balances, as well as other HR and payroll topics available within the PayFit system.

PayFit positioned the move as a response to the growing use of public AI tools and general internet searches for workplace questions. It said those approaches can produce answers that lack the specifics of an individual's employment terms or company policies.

The company also pointed to confidentiality concerns when employees share personal employment or financial information outside approved HR systems.

Contextual answers

PayFit described PayFit Copilot as a contextual agent integrated into its payroll and HR management environment. The company said the agent formulates answers based on an employee's context. It listed contract type, regulatory updates, seniority, leave balance, payslip information and applicable agreements among the factors it can consider.

PayFit said the system provides tailored and actionable responses for employees. It said some situations remain directed to HR teams when they require human intervention.

PayFit built the agent in-house. The company said it draws on an expert knowledge base that includes more than 1,000 help centre articles. It said more than 200 payroll specialists write and update those articles.

Employee behaviour

PayFit cited its own data on employee behaviour in the UK. It said 16% of workers in the UK use AI for specific searches related to their payslip. It said the figure rises to 22% among workers aged 18 to 34.

The company said payslips, deductions and leave entitlements often involve individual circumstances. It said generic tools can produce inaccurate information. It said that can leave employees without a clear view of their pay or deductions when budgeting or planning their finances.

PayFit also framed the product as a way to keep HR and payroll queries inside company systems. The company said public AI and internet searches sit outside the company framework and can provide approximative answers.

From HR to staff

PayFit launched PayFit Copilot as a tool for HR teams and leaders. It said the agent has processed more than 500,000 conversations since its launch in 2024.

The company said 77% of teams reported a continuous increase in internal requests. It also said the agent reduced reliance on support and secured processes. PayFit said 82% of users reported completing HR and payroll tasks more efficiently. It said 81% said they trust the answers provided by the AI agent.

PayFit linked the employee rollout to rising pressure on HR teams. It said a large proportion of teams estimate they spend up to 40% of their time repeating or reformatting information already shared. It attributed that to a lack of tools that allow autonomous and reliable access to information.

The company said it designed the agent as a complement to HR teams rather than a replacement. It said the product reduces operational pressure from repetitive or technical questions. It said HR teams can then focus on human support, sensitive situations and strategic issues.

"AI only creates value when it understands the real context of the people using it. With PayFit Copilot now accessible to employees, our teams have designed a next-generation agent capable of going beyond generic answers found on the internet to provide employees with precise, personalised, and reliable answers, directly linked to their situation and that of their company. It's an innovation built on our payroll and HR expertise, which saves HR teams precious time, brings clarity to employees, and fully respects data confidentiality.", said Firmin Zocchetto, Co-Founder and CEO, PayFit.

PayFit said the latest version adapts to the situation of each user. It said it takes account of the user's role, their company and their authorised data.

"This is why we are evolving PayFit Copilot into a truly contextual HR AI agent that is accessible to all. Now, PayFit Copilot adapts to the precise situation of each user, whether a HR professional, a business leader, or an employee. The agent takes into account their role, their company, and their authorised data, so the answers it gives back are not only personalised but they can be trusted too. Our clients can still rely on our customer support for more complex cases or strategic issues.", said Zocchetto.
