Progress launches MarkLogic FastTrack to enhance data insights

Thu, 1st Aug 2024

Progress has announced the release of MarkLogic FastTrack, a user interface (UI) toolkit designed to accelerate the development of data- and search-driven applications.

The toolkit aims to help users visually explore complex connected data stored within the MarkLogic platform. According to Progress, applications built with MarkLogic FastTrack will enable data users, analysts, and decision-makers to uncover unique insights and relationships through interactive, user-friendly, and visually rich interfaces.

In an environment where organisations are increasingly adding diverse data types to provide context for business analytics, many struggle to gain deep insights because most business intelligence tools can visualise only one aspect of data at a time. This often results in a partial representation of the overall data landscape. The new toolkit aims to bridge the gap between current analytics capabilities and the context-enriched analysis that modern industries require.

With the introduction of MarkLogic FastTrack, Progress seeks to enable IT and data experts to collaborate more efficiently, providing workers and decision-makers with easy, visual access to enterprise data that informs strategic business initiatives. This allows users to answer complex questions that other analytics tools cannot, thereby significantly reducing the time needed to derive insights. Additionally, organisations can accelerate their business insights and add depth to AI-driven applications and systems by automating data analysis and interpretation, shortening the data-to-insight lifecycle.

“It’s no longer a matter of choice; organisations must tap into the power of unstructured data to manage, predict, and prepare for the future,” said Stewart Bond, Vice President of Data Integration and Data Intelligence Software Research at IDC. “Data is distributed, diverse, and dynamic—constantly changing. Organisations that make consolidation and monitoring of data in real-time a high priority, and invest in enabling technology, have a greater opportunity for competitive advantage.”

MarkLogic FastTrack employs React UI toolkit leveraging Progress KendoReact UI library. It includes customisable components and multi-model data visualisation techniques for building search-to-visualisation applications. These components enable development teams to assemble the functionality mix they need to develop end-user applications up to 90% faster than starting from scratch. Native integration with MarkLogic Server simplifies app development and data access, with no need for ETL or API design. The built-in synchronisation of data components allows developers to build interfaces that present relationships between geospatial, temporal, and graph data in a single UI.

Beyond development benefits, MarkLogic FastTrack helps data citizens and decision-makers more easily search, explore, and analyse various dimensions of enterprise data, including private, public, and OSINT information, in an interactive and visually cohesive interface. Users can combine and cluster data exploration techniques to navigate and understand large datasets and identify underlying patterns and relationships for improved decision-making. For instance, analysts can conduct exploratory geo-temporal analysis to examine how data distribution changes over time and across different regions, which can be highly valuable in fields such as epidemiology.

Applications built with MarkLogic FastTrack have the potential to trace events, investigate and prevent fraud or disasters, monitor critical information and inventories, and more. The toolkit extends the capabilities of the MarkLogic platform by providing enhanced visual data exploration, advanced analytics, and UI development capabilities. Customers are equipped with the tools necessary to build high-end applications and connected user experiences.

John Ainsworth, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Application and Data Platform at Progress, commented, “A composable, component-based approach to app building favours greater agility, improved developer productivity, and faster time to insight, all of which are critical in today’s highly complex, fast-paced business environment. With the launch of MarkLogic FastTrack, users can leverage one powerful tool to visualise data in context that will make a true impact on their business.”
