Rafael partners with Oracle to boost global defence systems

Thu, 12th Sep 2024

RAFAEL’s IMILITE and FIRE WEAVER systems are now available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), aiming to support defence missions on a global scale. This development extends the existing collaboration between RAFAEL and Oracle, blending RAFAEL’s multi-domain, combat-proven technologies with Oracle’s secure cloud solutions to provide warfighters with actionable insights swiftly.

“Collaborating with Oracle enables us to leverage cutting-edge cloud infrastructure, enhancing our capability to deliver rapid, actionable intelligence and superior operational efficiency to defence missions worldwide,” stated Yuval Miller, executive vice president and head of Air and C4ISR at RAFAEL. He added, “This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to providing innovative, mission-critical solutions that ensure our customers maintain a decisive edge.”

IMILITE, an AI-based Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) system, provides actionable intelligence from real-time visuals collected by multiple sensors. FIRE WEAVER connects all battlefield elements in real-time, ensuring shared situational awareness and minimizing friendly fire incidents, while automatically selecting relevant targets for precision strikes.

With the integration of IMILITE and FIRE WEAVER systems on OCI, Oracle and RAFAEL are reinforcing their commitment to supporting decision-makers and warfighters globally. These systems will be deployed on Oracle Government Cloud, Oracle National Security Regions, Oracle Cloud Isolated Region, and Oracle Roving Edge Infrastructure solutions.

Rand Waldron, vice president at Oracle, commented, “RAFAEL, an industry leader in the defence space, coupled with OCI, provides real-time and crucial support to those in the battlefield. As the first cloud provider to support RAFAEL’s IMILITE and FIRE WEAVER defence solutions, Oracle’s high-performance core-to-edge solutions are helping defence organisations around the world execute their core missions.”

Oracle positions its cloud infrastructure as capable of supporting the necessary built-in security, interoperability, and reliability for successful missions. OCI delivers consistent service across different deployment models, whether at a command outpost or the tactical edge. In addition, Oracle claims to be the only cloud that provides artificial intelligence (AI) at every layer of the stack, enabling smarter, faster solutions at a reduced cost compared to competitors.

RAFAEL’s solutions are also accessible on OCI Roving Edge Infrastructure. This configuration comprises ruggedised and portable high-performance devices weighing less than 35 lb., equipped with 56 cores (102 virtual CPUs), 512 GB of RAM, and up to 123 TB of storage. The design aims to ensure that the critical capabilities of IMILITE and FIRE WEAVER are available even in the most challenging environments.
