ResMed partners with BillingPlatform to automate billing process

Thu, 22nd Aug 2024

ResMed has chosen BillingPlatform to automate its billing and subscription management processes. This move aims to replace manual methods and decrease the risk of revenue leakage. ResMed, known for its medical products that focus on respiratory disorders and sleep-disordered breathing, identified the need for a more streamlined billing solution as it expands its subscription offerings.

Founded in 1989, ResMed has been at the forefront of developing cloud-connected medical devices for conditions such as sleep apnea and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The company boasts more than 24 million cloud-connectable devices in the market and has over 7.8 million subscribed users. It is committed to leveraging its digital health expertise to support healthcare providers outside the hospital setting through comprehensive software platforms.

ResMed encountered challenges with their legacy billing systems, which relied on multi-step, manual processes. Recognising the need for an automated solution to handle billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition for its usage-based subscriptions, the company selected BillingPlatform. BillingPlatform offers flexibility and seamless integration with third-party enterprise systems, which was a decisive factor in ResMed's choice.

"As our subscription offerings expand with new products, technologies and solutions, manual processing has become a real operational challenge for scaling our growth," stated Yona Capobianco, Global Process Owner, O2C at ResMed. "Our goal is to be able to meet our rapidly growing global billing needs as we continue to expand beyond medical devices into software and services. We chose BillingPlatform because they have the modern, flexible, feature-rich platform to help us achieve that."

With clients across various industries, including software, finance, media, and communications, BillingPlatform supports the monetisation of a wide range of product offerings. This ranges from simple subscriptions to complex, usage-based pricing models. The platform covers the entire monetisation process lifecycle from product setup to quoting, billing and invoicing, revenue recognition, payment, and collections.

Dennis Wall, CEO of BillingPlatform, commented on the partnership: "With more than 900 million people worldwide impacted by sleep apnea, ResMed is leading the way in medical device innovation that delivers life-changing benefits to the market. Offering fully integrated solutions with personal digital insights to allow end-users to personalise their experience is a true differentiator in the market." Adding, "As ResMed looks to streamline its subscription management offerings, we are excited to partner with them as they expand offerings to better serve their growing customer base."
