Siemens showcases green building tech at MCE 2024 trade show
Thu, 22nd Feb 2024

Siemens Smart Infrastructure has announced a series of innovative and sustainable building technologies that will be displayed at the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2024 trade show. The trade show, held this year from 12th to 15th March in Milan, Italy, brings together heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR), renewable energy sources and energy efficiency professionals to accelerate the decarbonisation of real estate.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure addresses the pressing challenges of urbanisation and climate change by connecting energy systems, buildings and industries. SI provides customers with a comprehensive end-to-end portfolio from a single source, with products, systems, solutions and services from the point of power generation all the way to consumption. An increasingly digitalised ecosystem helps customers thrive, and communities progress while contributing toward protecting the planet.

At the MCE 2024 trade show, Siemens' fast MVL702 magnetic expansion valve, designed specifically for refrigeration cycle processes in heat pump and chiller applications, will be in the spotlight. According to Siemens, this easy-to-integrate valve helps to ensure system stability for commercial heat pumps and chillers while delivering high energy efficiency.

Siemens estimates that the integration of the MVL702 valve into existing heat pump systems could provide an annual energy saving of up to 14% for end customers. Furthermore, this innovative device could offer OEMs up to 21% more heating capacity compared to systems using stepper motor technology without an increase in energy consumption.

Besides, the valve provides additional safety in chiller and heat pump applications by closing automatically in the event of power failure or cable disconnection.

Another noteworthy product to be launched at the event is a heat pump automation system, a part of the Siemens Xcelerator's open digital business platform. Known as the Climatix system, this technology is designed to help OEMs in the HVACR sector control, install, maintain, and innovate their offering effectively and sustainably whilst enabling Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings.

The Climatix S400 controller, specifically designed for residential HVACR applications such as heat pumps and heat recovery ventilation, promotes energy efficiency and decarbonisation owing to its modularity. Apart from this, the controller's native cloud connectivity allows for remote access, offering full transparency to OEMs and installers and facilitating fast, cost-efficient and sustainable reactions.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure's CEO of Building Products, Henning Sandfort, expressed his excitement to be part of MCE 2024, stating, "As buildings account for 40% of global energy consumption, taking action in terms of energy efficiency has never been more urgent. True to Mostra's focus topic for 2024, 'transform today, to create a sustainable tomorrow', we will showcase innovative and sustainable technology that helps our customers to accelerate delivery against their sustainability targets."

Along with the mentioned highlights, Siemens will also present an HVACR plug-and-play solution aimed at reducing heating and cooling costs in small- and mid-sized buildings, as well as additional building automation solutions that address leading CO2 reduction challenges.
