Snowflake expands Claude use as demand for governed AI grows

Thu, 4th Jun 2026 (Today)

Snowflake and Anthropic said enterprises are expanding their use of Claude models in Snowflake Cortex AI, driven by interest in governed AI systems.

The partnership builds on an expansion announced in late 2025 that brought Anthropic's Claude models directly into Snowflake's AI product suite across major cloud platforms. Customers can use Claude on data stored within Snowflake without moving sensitive information outside that environment.

The announcement highlights how software vendors are trying to address a persistent concern among large companies: how to apply generative AI to internal data while maintaining existing controls over security, access, and compliance. Snowflake is positioning Cortex AI as the layer through which businesses can run AI models against operational and analytical data already stored on its platform.

Anthropic provides the Claude family of models, which Snowflake has integrated into several products, including Cortex Code and Snowflake Intelligence. The companies are also working together on security-focused software development workflows and on Anthropic's Claude Marketplace.

Christian Kleinerman, Executive Vice President of Product at Snowflake, said customer demand is moving beyond isolated AI pilots.

"The rapid adoption of models like Claude through Snowflake Cortex AI reflects a broader shift in what enterprises expect from AI," said Christian Kleinerman, Executive Vice President of Product at Snowflake. "Customers want AI that works directly on their governed data, not in isolated systems. We're seeing strong demand across our AI products, with Snowflake Cortex Code becoming the fastest-growing product in Snowflake's history. Together with Anthropic, we're helping organizations move from experimentation to production faster and laying the foundation for the agentic enterprise, where AI, data, and governance work together to drive real business outcomes."

Snowflake said Cortex Code now has more than 7,100 users and described it as its fastest-growing product to date. Claude is one of the models behind the tool.

Customer uptake

The companies cited adoption across marketing, financial services, cybersecurity, recruitment, and workplace software. Named customers included Basis, Block, Carvana, eSentire, Indeed, and Notion, alongside Deloitte as a services partner.

At Block, the integration is being used for compliance and security investigations, as well as workflow automation across brands including Square, Cash App, and Afterpay.

"At Block, we're focused on building an AI-native operating layer that connects intelligent reasoning directly to the trusted data powering our ecosystems across our different brands, including Square, Cash App, and Afterpay," said Arnaud Weber, Engineering Lead at Block. "By combining Anthropic Claude with Snowflake's governed data platform, our teams can investigate compliance and security issues in real time, trace controls and requirements, surface operational insights, and automate workflows grounded in trusted enterprise data. Developers are also using Snowflake Cortex Code to build and operationalize these capabilities directly within Snowflake, creating a unified layer where AI can move seamlessly from analysis to action. This approach helps us reduce friction across investigations and decision-making, while maintaining the governance, performance, and scalability needed to apply AI responsibly across financial services and commerce."

Cybersecurity provider eSentire said it is using the tools for threat investigations, allowing AI systems to handle first-line analysis while human analysts focus on more complex cases.

"As cyber threats become more sophisticated and move at machine speed, organizations need AI that can reason deeply while operating within a secure, governed data environment," said Dustin Hillard, CPTO at eSentire. "By leveraging Claude within Snowflake's trusted environment, we're able to power AI-led threat investigations that autonomously handle Tier 1 analysis, freeing our SOC analysts to focus on complex threats with greater speed and precision. This approach gives our customers the transparency, governance, and operational scale required to confidently deploy AI in mission-critical cybersecurity workflows."

Recruitment platform Indeed said it is using Claude in Snowflake to make internal data easier for staff to query directly, with the aim of broadening access to self-service analytics.

"At Indeed, our mission is to help people get jobs. We use intelligent, AI-driven solutions to make the hiring process seamless and efficient for everyone," said Trey Henninger, Vice President of Data and Analytics at Indeed. "Harnessing Anthropic Claude within Snowflake's trusted AI Data Cloud allows us to make our data interactable for all Indeed employees. This shift to self-service analytics means we move from data to insights much faster, ultimately improving the hiring process with personalized experiences for job seekers and sophisticated, data-driven tools for employers."

Product expansion

Snowflake said the partnership now extends across several parts of its AI portfolio. These include Cortex Agents, intended for building AI agents that retrieve and act on enterprise data, and Snowflake Intelligence, which the company described as a personal agent for querying business information in natural language.

The companies also aim to simplify commercial arrangements for joint customers through Claude Marketplace. That would allow customers with Anthropic spending commitments to apply them to Snowflake AI products.

Steve Corfield, Head of Global Business Development & Partnerships at Anthropic, said the partnership is focused on using AI within existing data environments.

"Snowflake customers are increasingly using Claude to power cybersecurity investigations, accelerate financial analysis, build production data apps, and many other workflows," said Steve Corfield, Head of Global Business Development & Partnerships at Anthropic. "Snowflake brings the governed data environment enterprises already rely on, and Claude brings the reasoning to put that data to work. Together we're making it easy for organizations to use trusted AI on their most critical business data."
