Staffbase has signed a reseller partnership with Cornerstone in Australia, bringing Cornerstone Learning into the Staffbase Employee App for frontline workers.

The offer is aimed at non-desk employees in healthcare, manufacturing, retail and transport.

Under the arrangement, workers can access training, course recommendations and reminders through the Staffbase app without an extra login. Learning is also available through Staffbase's AI assistant, which brings together knowledge and services from different systems and includes voice-enabled support.

The move addresses a longstanding gap in corporate training for staff who do not work at desks. Many learning and communication systems have traditionally been designed around office-based employees, leaving frontline teams with weaker access to training and internal information.

The issue has become more pressing as employers face pressure to show returns on AI spending and prepare staff for new ways of working. Staffbase cited Deloitte research showing that only about 28% of organisations have moved more than 40% of their AI pilots into production.

Frontline access

In practical terms, the integrated offer places course information inside the mobile app employees already use in their daily work. It shows upcoming, in-progress and completed training, along with suggested courses by topic and automated prompts designed to reduce missed learning tasks.

The approach is intended to place training within existing digital workflows rather than require workers to move between systems. For sectors with dispersed teams, shift-based work and limited desk access, mobile delivery has become a central part of workforce communication and compliance activity.

Rick Swaleh, Head of Partnerships, APJ at Staffbase, said the deal reflects a wider challenge for employers with large frontline workforces.

"As organisations across APJ accelerate their adoption of AI, ensuring frontline employees have easy, equitable access to learning and development is becoming increasingly important. Our partnership with Cornerstone regionally brings personalised, AI-powered learning directly into the flow of work through the Staffbase Employee App, helping organisations strengthen compliance, build critical skills and support retention. For frontline-heavy industries, it represents an important step towards closing the learning gap and ensuring every employee has the opportunity to develop and succeed," said Swaleh.

Regional push

Cornerstone is supplying its learning system and Workforce AI tools through the arrangement. The companies presented the partnership as part of a broader push across Asia Pacific and Japan to improve access to training for frontline staff, although the current launch covers organisations in Australia.

Brenton Smith, Vice President, Asia Pacific & Japan at Cornerstone, said the partnership is focused on meeting workers where training is needed.

"This partnership reflects our shared commitment to closing the learning gap for frontline workers across Asia Pacific & Japan. By bringing Cornerstone Learning, powered by Cornerstone Workforce AI, directly into the Staffbase Employee App, we're giving organisations a more effective way to build workforce readiness at the exact moment of need, wherever their people work. We're proud to partner with Staffbase to help organisations across the region develop more capable, engaged and future-ready frontline teams," said Smith.

For employers in healthcare, manufacturing, retail and transport, compliance and skills maintenance often depend on whether workers can complete training during or around shifts. Embedding those tasks in a commonly used employee app may help companies track mandatory learning more consistently while reducing friction for staff.

The agreement also reflects a broader market trend in workplace software, as vendors try to connect communications, support services and learning within fewer employee-facing tools. In frontline settings, where staff may rely mainly on mobile devices, that consolidation has become a more pressing commercial issue than in office-based environments.

The enhanced offering is now available to organisations across Australia.
