StorMagic validates SvHCI with three Supermicro servers
StorMagic has announced that its SvHCI solution has been tested and validated with three Supermicro IoT SuperServers.
The development promises to give customers the flexibility to deploy and configure SvHCI according to their specific requirements. SvHCI, a full-stack HCI software solution, was introduced in 2024 and is designed for use at the enterprise edge, in remote office/branch office (ROBO) environments, and by small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). It combines the virtualised storage capabilities of SvSAN with a hypervisor, along with virtualised networking and management components.
The newly tested Supermicro IoT SuperServers include the SYS-220HE-FTNR - a 2U Hyper with 6 NVMe/SATA bays; the SYS-210SE-31A - a SuperEdge 2U3-Node UP front I/O short-depth server; and the SYS-110D-20C - a 20-Core, 600W -48 Vdc redundant PWS, 1U edge platform. These servers are known to support various edge applications, such as multi-access and enterprise environments, as well as 5G infrastructure.
Bruce Kornfeld, Chief Product Officer at StorMagic, highlighted the significance of the collaboration with Supermicro: "The SvHCI software stack was designed specifically for edge use cases, and these environments need the fast, reliable and affordable servers that Supermicro is known for."
"StorMagic is seeing massive exodus from VMware in the industry which is fuelling the demand for SvHCI and the expansion of our hardware compatibility list with Supermicro will help us deliver what customers want."
SvHCI can be implemented on a single server or across two servers to offer high availability and prevent downtime, meeting the diverse needs of users. The validation of SvHCI with Supermicro servers provides potential users with pre-tested options that align with their requirements.
Pricing for StorMagic SvHCI starts at USD $2,049 per server, and it is immediately available through StorMagic's global reseller network. The compatibility list for SvHCI continues to expand, offering interested users a comprehensive index of supported hardware.
Combining StorMagic's capabilities with Supermicro's hardware offerings aims to address the growing demand for reliable and cost-effective edge computing solutions. This development aligns with a trend where businesses seek alternatives to established industry players like VMware, as observed by StorMagic in the market.
