Superloop to Deliver Digital Network for New Bradfield City

Mon, 2nd Jun 2025

Superloop has been appointed as the sole statutory digital infrastructure provider for the newly planned city of Bradfield in New South Wales.

Bradfield, situated in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis area near the new Western Sydney International Airport, is Australia's first major city development in 100 years and is expected to cover 114 hectares. The new city sits alongside more than AUD $26 billion in government infrastructure investment, aiming to spur industry development, economic activity and create highly skilled jobs for Western Sydney.

As part of its appointment by the Bradfield Development Authority, Superloop will be responsible for building and managing the fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, which aims to provide digital infrastructure for up to 10,000 new homes. In addition, Superloop will own and oversee the city's pit and pipe network, and manage the deployment of Multi-Function Poles, or 'Smart Poles', supported by technology partner OneWifi. These Smart Poles will provide residents and visitors with services such as public Wi-Fi, CCTV coverage, improved mobile coverage and more.

With Superloop's infrastructure, it is anticipated that future business, retail, and manufacturing customers, as well as third-party carriers and their clients, will benefit. The network includes assets such as Uecomm and is supported by Superloop's broader product portfolio.

Superloop Chief Executive Officer, Paul Tyler, said, "It's fitting that one of Australia's fastest growing internet providers has been tapped to enable one of Australia's fastest growing regions."

He continued, "Designing equitable, high speed, reliable network solutions with capacity to scale is core to our DNA and our wholesale roots. Partnering with the Bradfield Development Authority now means Superloop can build a future-ready network for the community that serves as a springboard for innovation and growth."

Jason Ashton, Group Executive, Corporate Development and Smart Communities at Superloop, who will lead the project team responsible for deploying the infrastructure, emphasised the significance of the digital network for the community.

"We know that the internet is the greatest enabler and amplifier of opportunity, leveler and disrupter of disparity. Connectivity is more than streaming or gaming. It's about freedom and choice. It opens up the world, unleashes endless possibilities for working, studying, learning, growing, and staying connected. It removes borders, democratises information and access, and it empowers. And a tailored, reliable, high-speed network is exactly what the people of Western Sydney deserve," Ashton said.

Paul Tyler added, "We're thrilled that Superloop has been chosen by the Bradfield Development Authority to set this once in a multi-generational new city up to thrive. It's a fantastic endorsement of the Superloop network, and we can't wait to see the people of Bradfield enjoying truly great internet."

Paul Scully, New South Wales Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, outlined the importance of digital capability in the new city. "Bradfield will be Australia's first new city in 100 years. With abundant digital capacity for high-tech industries today and in the future, we're laying the foundations for 20,000 high value jobs and 10,000 new homes in the new city."

He added, "It's imperative we get the digital capability of Bradfield right for generations to come."

The development of Bradfield is planned as a central hub for industry, arts, culture, and entertainment, aiming for high levels of digital connectivity from the outset. Superloop's appointment marks a step in supporting the city's infrastructure, ensuring broadband and communications services will be operational as homes and businesses are established.
