Unisys reveals key tech trends shaping future enterprises

Today

Unisys has released a report titled "Top IT Insights for 2025: Navigating the Future of Technology and Business," outlining eight significant trends shaping the future of enterprise technology.

The report provides an analysis based on discussions with industry leaders. It explores opportunities in areas such as AI-powered interfaces, quantum-safe security, cloud-edge computing, and hybrid work models.

Peter Altabef, Unisys Chair and CEO, commented, "Business leaders today are on the cusp of extraordinary opportunities and face unprecedented complexities as innovations reshape the organisational landscape. Unisys' IT Insights for 2025 is not just a guide; it's a blueprint for aligning technology with the dynamic demands of business, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance. The report's findings empower leaders to harness these trends as a strategic roadmap that will help them seize competitive advantage and secure long-term success."

The report identifies "Natural Language Reigns as the AI Default" as a key trend, with AI moving towards intuitive voice-driven interfaces, enabling organisations to integrate conversational AI and automate workflows to enhance user experience and efficiency.

Another trend emphasises a "Shift to Smaller AI Models and Edge Computing," highlighting that these models, especially when combined with edge computing, can outperform larger models by processing data closer to its source, thereby improving security and reducing latency.

"Strategic Hybrid Cloud Use Grows" discusses how rising cloud costs are prompting organisations to revisit hybrid cloud strategies, evaluating the balance between on-premises and cloud workloads to optimise resources and ensure compliance.

The report also stresses the importance of "Post-Quantum Cryptography" as quantum computing advancements necessitate quantum-safe practices for encryption to protect sensitive data in the future.

Additionally, a focus on talent acquisition is suggested with the insight, "Embrace Entry-Level Talent as AI Adopters." Entry-level workers are viewed as contributing digital fluency to AI projects and should be integrated through targeted hiring and mentorship programmes.

The report further anticipates that a "Three-Day Hybrid Work Model Becomes the New Sweet Spot," where a balanced mix of remote and in-office workdays enhances productivity while also addressing worker flexibility and engagement.

In energy concerns, "Energy-Efficient AI Fuels Competitive Advantage" urges organisations to monitor AI energy usage and adapt sustainable practices to reduce environmental impacts, thereby gaining a competitive edge.

Finally, "AI Compliance Requires Localisation" highlights the need for companies to adhere to diverse global data regulations, stressing the importance of governance frameworks and regional compliance strategies to protect data integrity.
