Workday accepted into Australian Government DTA software marketplace

Wed, 31st Jul 2024

Workday has been accepted into the Australian Federal Government's Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) Software Marketplace, specifically within the newly established Category 3 for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Products and Service Solutions. The inclusion reflects an ongoing effort by the Australian Government to modernise ERP systems across various non-corporate Commonwealth entities.

This development allows governmental bodies greater autonomy and choice in updating their ERP systems. Workday's suite of applications, which includes Workday Financial Management, Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), and Workday Adaptive Planning, is now available to all federal, state, and territory government agencies through the Software Marketplace. The applications aim to provide a robust solution for agencies seeking to modernise and replace their outdated legacy technology and disparate systems.

“We congratulate the Government on its new approach, which provides greater autonomy and choice to modernise ERP solutions, using technology and vendors that best meet entity needs and budget,” said Paul Leahy, Regional Director, Public Sector, Workday Australia and New Zealand. “This will be truly transformative for government operations. By replacing outdated legacy systems, the APS can help streamline processes, boost productivity, and attract top talent."

The acceptance of Workday into the DTA's Software Marketplace ERP Category ensures that the Australian Government has access to innovative cloud applications for finance, human resources, and planning. These applications are designed to help agencies automate manual processes, scale with their needs, and adapt continuously in a rapidly changing landscape. Workday has also renewed its Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment, allowing Australian public service organisations to continue storing workloads up to the PROTECTED level on its platform, which is hosted in AWS Australia.

Workday has established itself as a choice for many public sector agencies globally. The system is implemented in several organisations, including Public Trust in New Zealand, the Crown Commercial Service - the United Kingdom's largest public procurement organisation, the Cabinet Office, Department for Education, Innovate UK, Student Loans Company, and Channel 4. In the United States, customers include the City of Los Angeles and multiple US government agencies via Groundswell.

Paul Leahy further commented on the implications of this inclusion for the Australian Government, stating, "Our acceptance to the DTA's Software Marketplace ERP Category ensures the Australian Government has access to innovative cloud applications for finance, human resources, and planning, enabling them to drive IT modernisation that best meets their needs."
