Wyndham City Council completes phase one of digital upgrade
Wyndham City Council has completed the first phase of a digital transformation aimed at enhancing its infrastructure and service capabilities, through the implementation of TechnologyOne's OneCouncil ERP system.
The council's adoption of the new ERP system provides an integrated overview of its GBP £160 million capital works programme and has notably streamlined operations. Over 11,600 customer requests were processed, and more than 3,300 work orders were created within the initial six weeks post-implementation.
Stephen Wall, Wyndham City Council CEO, commented on the recent developments: "We're proud that Wyndham City has become such a sought-after place for people to call home, but rapid growth means more housing, roads, libraries, health services, schools, waste management and so on. Delivering phase one of our ERP program on-time and on-budget was no small feat, as these types of implementations are never easy. But by upgrading the core back-office system, Wyndham City Council is reinforcing its commitment to the community, ensuring everyone gets access to the services they need now and in the future."
The transition to a unified data management system is intended to bolster the council's capabilities as it anticipates a population surge to 500,000 residents by 2040. Despite the projected demographic expansion, the council operates under a state-imposed rate cap fixed at 2.75%, which is presently below inflation. This development underscores the necessity for TechnologyOne's OneCouncil system to enable precise financial tracking, effective asset maintenance, and future-proof decision-making.
Highlighting the efficiency improvements enacted by the ERP system, Mr. Wall stated: "Every local government area requires constant investment in infrastructure and services, but ultimately, it's the fast-growing communities that need their councils to be as efficient and forward-thinking as possible. So, it was vital we implemented modern technology that enables us to make data-driven decisions that not only maintain service levels but also enhance them into the future. These types of implementations are no small feat, but building a strong partnership with TechnologyOne enabled us to deliver our new ERP system on time and on budget."
The forthcoming second phase of Wyndham's digital strategy aims to enhance both the development and sustainability of its infrastructure and service provision, bolstering decision-making from planning to operational stages.
Ben Malpass, Executive Vice President for Local Government at TechnologyOne, remarked on the significance of Wyndham City Council's efforts: "Many councils are being challenged to leverage technology to derive productivity and efficiency gains, but compromising on service delivery or safety just isn't an option. Wyndham City Council's proactive tech-first approach towards greater transparency and enhanced processes is already delivering significant gains and we are proud to have helped them realise these benefits. We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with the team at Wyndham to roll out even more capabilities in the coming months."
