Xero unveils redesigned flexible work programme - largest hiring drive to date
Global small business platform Xero has unveiled its redesigned flexible work programme, enabling its growing product and tech teams to work where they perform best, at home, in the office, or a mix of both.
Xero is embarking on one of its most extensive hiring drives to date. The new programme will enable new and current engineers, designers, data scientists, product managers and more to choose to work fully remote, from the office, or in a hybrid model. The policies are designed to ensure people work in areas where Xero has a presence and close vicinity to the teams they work with most.
Xero says it has worked closely with its team over the past 18 months to develop a policy that's clear, designed for the future, and ensures there are no surprise catches or fine print.
Having run a global, flexible company for more than a decade, with product and technology hubs worldwide, Xero smoothly transitioned to fully remote work during the global lockdowns. Xero developed several incentives and programmes throughout the pandemic to support its staff, taking what it has learned from this to launch the Remote Roles programme.
"We've always been huge advocates of flexible work at Xero," says Xero chief people officer, Nicole Reid.
"We know we get the best out of people when we empower them to work how they like and choose their career adventure. We've put a lot of effort and research into ensuring we're creating policies that make a difference to our people. Our new programme is designed to support the Xero of today and the future to support every type of worker, from wherever they are.
"We've been quite particular about creating a policy that's clear and easy to understand. We've taken on research and feedback from our employees, and, through our Future of Work group have developed a clear policy that's upfront about what employees can, and can't expect, without the fine print," she says.
The programme will be globally rolled out in stages, starting with new and current product and technology teams in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK. This will later be rolled out in the US. Xero says it will continuously evolve the approach based on the needs of the remote workforce over time.
