Zyxel Networks uses AI cloud solutions to boost manufacturing

Wed, 4th Sep 2024

Zyxel Networks has highlighted how its AI-powered cloud networking solutions are enhancing manufacturing efficiency. Increased technological complexity and the proliferation of IoT devices in modern factories necessitate scalable networks that maintain performance and simplify management. Zyxel Networks addresses these industry needs by providing reliable connectivity, robust security, and centralised management through its Nebula cloud platform, among other solutions.

Approximately 75% of advanced manufacturing companies now prioritise AI in their research and development, leading to the rapid adoption of AI technologies across various domains such as procurement, maintenance, and logistics. Despite the potential, smaller organisations often face high infrastructure costs, talent shortages, and security concerns, hindering their full embrace of such technologies. Nonetheless, the AI market in the manufacturing sector is projected to grow significantly to USD $5.46 billion by 2028.

In Southeast Asia, the Lai-Yih Group, a shoe manufacturer for global brands, had to contend with outdated and incompatible firewalls across its factories in Vietnam and Myanmar. These security challenges adversely impacted operational efficiency by creating bottlenecks in communication and network management. Zyxel Networks addressed these issues by deploying advanced firewall solutions that enhanced cybersecurity, streamlined network management processes, and enabled smooth communication between the sites.

In the EMEA region, DOGU HVAC, a prominent Turkish manufacturer of ventilation and air conditioning equipment, struggled to unify its wired and wireless network infrastructure to meet rising demands for capacity and speed. The existing network was under strain due to the addition of more devices, such as IP cameras and IP PBX solutions. Zyxel Networks provided a robust solution that significantly improved device support and overall network performance. Tark Aksoy, IT Operations Manager at DOGU HVAC, noted, "We are extremely satisfied with the new network infrastructure and value-added services provided within the scope of the project."

Zyxel Networks also improved the efficiency of Baltal Group’s distributed sites in Turkey. "With Nebula, we can manage the networks of our factories wherever they are, and do it all from a single interface," said Kadir Öztürk, IT Audit Specialist at Baltal Group. The new infrastructure allowed the creation of separate VLANs and delivered high-speed 10G connections across the entire network.

In Italy, ceramics manufacturer Sil Ceramiche required enhanced network performance for better logistics management and stock checking. Ceramic pallets in their warehouse interfered with WiFi signals, necessitating a high-performance network solution for their offices. Additionally, the company needed a comprehensive management system to monitor traffic, ensure security, and comply with GDPR requirements. Zyxel Networks addressed these needs by providing a streamlined infrastructure management solution through the Nebula platform, enabling high-speed, stable connections and meeting the customer’s diverse requirements.

Examples like these showcase Zyxel Networks' commitment to tackling the pressing challenges faced by manufacturers. The Nebula platform supports over 100 compatible network devices, including WiFi 7 access points, multigigabit switches, security firewalls, and 5G mobile routers, meeting various connectivity needs across even remote areas with limited WiFi coverage. These solutions are designed to provide improved operational efficiency, reduced management complexity, and enhanced security tailored to the modern manufacturing landscape.
