A1 Technologies names Amar Bilas Head of Microsoft Cloud

Fri, 9th Jan 2026

A1 Technologies has appointed Amar Bilas as Head of Microsoft Cloud Services as the Australian IT provider steps up its consultancy work across Australia and New Zealand.

The company said the new role will sit at the centre of its Microsoft-focused cloud consulting and delivery operations. The move follows a period of expansion in Azure, Modern Workplace, Power Platform and Copilot projects for mid-market and enterprise customers.

Bilas has more than a decade of experience delivering Microsoft cloud transformation programmes for enterprise and mid-market organisations. His background spans Azure migrations, cloud infrastructure design, application modernisation, workplace transformation, identity and security uplift, and cloud-native operating models.

He joins A1 Technologies after a series of roles in both Australia and the United Kingdom. His previous employers include HSO, CSI, SystemsUp, Brennan IT, First Focus IT, ISS Facility Services Australia, Saint-Gobain, Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, Computacenter, Whitford Corporation and Nybble.

The appointment follows several years in the UK market and a recent return to Australia. A1 Technologies said the hire forms part of a broader strategy to deepen its Microsoft Cloud leadership while it expands in Australia and New Zealand.

Leadership brief

In his new role, Bilas will lead the development of A1 Technologies' Microsoft Cloud Services team. He will work with customers, partners and internal technical leads. The company said the team will focus on secure, scalable and modern cloud solutions for organisations across the region.

Bilas has previously guided organisations through cloud modernisation and adoption projects. His work has included governance frameworks, cloud security posture improvements and the design of scalable landing zones.

He also has experience in transitions from legacy environments into cloud-first operating models. His roles have combined technical design with delivery oversight, with a focus on execution and risk reduction.

A1 Technologies said Bilas brings experience in aligning cloud strategy with cost management, resilience, workforce enablement and long-term scalability goals. His time in the UK market has exposed him to established cloud operating models, global adoption patterns and emerging practices in automation and AI-led productivity.

Regional growth

A1 Technologies has increased its presence across major Australian capitals and New Zealand. The company delivers Microsoft Cloud and managed services projects for organisations including Martinus Rail, JD Sports, Pitcher Partners, Mecca, Charter Hall and Minter Ellison.

The business has invested in cloud architecture, modern workplace transformation and security over recent years. It has scaled its professional services practice and expanded its regional delivery footprint. It has also placed a stronger focus on alignment with Microsoft's cloud roadmap.

The firm said Bilas' appointment adds senior leadership for larger and more complex Microsoft engagements. It sees the hire as part of its expansion across both Australia and New Zealand.

Rob Rattray, Commercial Director at A1 Technologies, said the company views the hire as a marker of its direction in the Microsoft ecosystem.

"Amar joining A1 Technologies is an important milestone for our business. His expertise and leadership accelerate our strategic focus on Microsoft Cloud and reflect the direction we're taking as a company. We're committed to building one of Australia's strongest Microsoft-focused consulting practices, and Amar will play a significant role in shaping that future," said Rattray.

Cloud strategy

In previous roles, Bilas has worked with both technical stakeholders and executive teams. He has focused on ensuring that cloud projects align with organisational priorities and governance requirements.

He said he sees strong momentum in the local Microsoft Cloud ecosystem and in A1 Technologies' plans.

"I'm incredibly excited to join A1 Technologies at such a pivotal time for the business and the Microsoft Cloud ecosystem in Australia. A1 Technologies has a clear, compelling vision to build one of the country's strongest Microsoft consulting practices, and I am proud to be part of that journey. I look forward to working with the talented team at A1 and contributing to a culture where technical excellence and high-trust collaboration help our clients unlock the full potential of Microsoft Cloud," said Bilas.

In the coming period, Bilas will oversee the uplift of delivery frameworks across the Microsoft Cloud Services function. He will refine cloud adoption methodologies in line with demand for Azure, workplace and security projects. He will also work on capability development across the wider consulting team as A1 Technologies pursues further growth in Australia and New Zealand.
