Adobe launches Express mobile app with generative AI features
Fri, 8th Mar 2024

Adobe has launched the Adobe Express mobile app, equipped with Adobe Firefly generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and new mobile editing capabilities for Android and iOS in beta. The app aims to transform the way content is created, making the process swift and convenient, especially for on-the-go creators.

The new Adobe Express app integrates the decades-old world-class imaging, video, and design technologies of Adobe. Its features include Firefly Generative Fill, Text to Image and Text Effects, along with prompt and straightforward video editing. Together, these functions redefine the process of distinctive content creation integrated directly into mobile workflows.

Adobe Express has gained ground as an essential tool among creators worldwide. " Millions of users around the world are turning to Adobe Express to create more content than ever before, more than doubling the number of creations ever made in just the last year," said Govind Balakrishnan, Senior Vice President, Adobe Express and Digital Media Services at Adobe. "The new Adobe Express mobile app puts Firefly - our generative AI models - front and center, giving users unprecedented ways to create videos, designs, photos, and images that stand out."

The usability of the new Adobe Express app is manifold. It caters to a wide range of potential users - be they creative professionals or students, offering easy and effective ways to create social media posts, flyers, and more. The Generative Fill tool can add or remove objects from photos while Text Effects can create headlines that grab attention. Added to this, real-time co-editing and seamless review boost the speed of the creation process.

The Adobe Express mobile app offers Text to Image feature for generating extraordinary images instantly, and Generative Fill which can insert, remove or replace objects using simple text prompts. With the app, users gain access to thousands of stunning video and multipage templates, Adobe Fonts, and Adobe Stock videos. Adobe Express also offers features like Quick Actions for editing photos and videos and a Content Scheduler for planning and publishing on social media.

Beyond these, the Adobe Express mobile app facilitates an extension of Creative Cloud capabilities to mobile. This means Creative Cloud members can easily access and modify creative assets from Photoshop and Illustrator directly within Adobe Express. Subscribers will have comprehensive access to all the premium features in Adobe Express across desktop web and mobile.

Adobe Firefly generative AI is designed to be commercially safe. It includes Content Credentials on assets indicating that generative AI has been used in creation, bringing in more trust and transparency to digital content. These credentials can show information like the creator’s name, creation date, tools used and any edits made. Protected by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), this data is set to stay with generative content, enabling suitable attribution.

The Adobe Express mobile app is now available in beta and free to download on Android and iOS. In its beta phase, premium features are accessible at no cost. However, due to limitations on iOS regarding beta users, they will need to sign up and be guided by Adobe through the process.
