AGIBOT opens Malaysia AI robotics hub for APAC push

Thu, 15th Jan 2026

AGIBOT has launched in Malaysia and opened an AI and robotics experience centre in Selangor as it sets out a series of Asia-Pacific initiatives planned for 2026.

The robotics company held its launch event at i-City, Selangor. The event brought together AGIBOT's senior leadership team, Malaysian government officials, partners, customers, and media.

AGIBOT said it will pursue strategic initiatives across Asia-Pacific during 2026, starting with Malaysia. The company said the programme will focus on partnerships and automation in Malaysia and the wider region.

AGIBOT was founded in 2023. The company develops robots it describes as "embodied intelligent robots" that it said can learn and operate in real-world settings.

Shipment claim

AGIBOT pointed to Omdia data on its 2025 performance. It said Omdia ranked the company No.1 globally in humanoid robot shipments and market share in 2025.

AGIBOT said it shipped more than 5,100 humanoid robots in 2025. It also cited a 39% share of the global market. It said these figures came from Omdia's General-Purpose Embodied Intelligent Robot 2026 report.

AGIBOT also described manufacturing progress in 2025. It said it rolled out its 5,168th mass-produced humanoid robot during the year.

It said it used real-world reinforcement learning for embodied AI. The company said it trained and deployed robots in physical production environments.

"AGIBOT made significant strides to improve the mass production and the practical use of embodied robotics last year. This was capped off at the end of last year when we rolled out our 5,000th mass-produced humanoid robots. This milestone, along with others, puts AGIBOT in a strong position as we start 2026," said Deng Taihua, Founder, Chairman, and CEO, AGIBOT.

"Today's AGIBOT launch event in Malaysia is an example of our commitment to bring mass production and the practical use of embodied robotics to customers in this region," said Taihua.

Experience centre

The Malaysia launch coincided with the opening of the AI World Experience Centre in i-City. AGIBOT established the centre in partnership with I-Berhad.

The centre's opening was officiated by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Chang Lih Kang, according to AGIBOT. The company said I-Berhad is the master developer of i-City.

AGIBOT said the site showcases its robotics and embodied AI across several settings. It listed property, hospitality, tourism, and industrial environments.

The company also set out an additional theme for the partnership. It said the collaboration includes a focus on human wellness and longevity. It said the work will apply AI and robotics to health optimisation and quality of life.

"The building and launch of Malaysia's first AI & Robotics Experience Centre concludes the first phase of our partnership with i-City, with plans for further development in the coming year. This launch also marks the first of several strategic initiatives we will roll out in the Asia-Pacific region throughout 2026 and beyond," shares Abel Deng, President, Asia-Pacific & Middle East Region, AGIBOT.

"This year, in collaboration with regional partners, we will accelerate the development of the embodied robotics ecosystem in Asia Pacific and deploy embodied robotics products and solutions across a wider range of closed-loop commercial scenarios.

I-Berhad framed the partnership as part of Malaysia's ambitions in AI. "We are confident that this strategic initiative between AGIBOT and I-Berhad will advance Malaysia's vision to become a regional hub for AI innovation through integrated development across technology, governance, talent, infrastructure, and investment," said Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, Chairman, I-Berhad.

Product range

AGIBOT also set out details of its current product line-up. It listed the A2 series of full-sized humanoids. The company said the robots cover multimodal interaction and autonomous navigation. It said they are intended for guided presentations and showroom spaces.

It listed the X2 series of half-sized compact humanoids. AGIBOT said these robots can interact with people and perform expressive movements. It said they are designed for entertainment, research, and education.

It listed the G2 series for industrial settings. AGIBOT described these as embodied robots that combine interactive intelligence and force-controlled manipulation.

The company also listed the D1 series of quadruped robots. It said these target inspection and operations in complex environments.

AGIBOT included the C5 autonomous commercial floor-care robot. It said the machine covers sweeping, scrubbing, and navigation for large facilities.

AGIBOT said it targets eight commercial applications. It listed reception and hospitality, entertainment and commercial performances, industrial intelligent manufacturing, logistics sorting, security inspection and patrol, data collection and training, and scientific research and education.

"Furthermore, by developing the world's first AI and Robotics Residential Tower as a real-world testbed and commercialization platform for humanoid robotics, we are accelerating the integration of embodied intelligence into everyday residential life. We are also laying the groundwork to translate advanced robotics capabilities into everyday living, while embedding health, wellness and longevity at the core of future residential environments. Through the convergence of AI, robotics, wellness innovation and a scalable Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, we are establishing a new benchmark for intelligent, human-centric living in the region, beginning with AI Tower," said Lim.

AGIBOT said AI World represents the first stage of a longer-term partnership with I-Berhad. Abel Deng said the two companies have further development plans for the coming year.
