Akamai promotes James Richmond to lead ANZ expansion
Akamai Technologies, Inc., the leading cloud services provider, announced the promotion of James Richmond to the position of Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Richmond will report directly to Parimal Pandya, Akamai's SVP, Sales and Managing Director, Asia Pacific & Japan.
Richmond will be responsible for leading Akamai's growth and expansion in the ANZ region. He will guide the Akamai ANZ team to effectively present the company's offerings in cloud computing, security, and delivery solutions to partners and customers.
Based in Melbourne, Richmond has been with Akamai since 2014. His previous roles include Regional Manager ANZ Critical Infrastructure for Akamai, and before that, managing the Financial Services & Public Sector portfolio for Akamai in the region.
Akamai has also recently launched Akamai Connected Cloud, an edge and cloud platform aimed at bringing applications and experiences closer while keeping threats at bay. As part of its expansion plan, Akamai will be setting up a core cloud computing site in Auckland, similar to its core Sydney site. The company will also establish a Scrubbing Centre in Auckland to provide local support to its New Zealand customers against DDoS attacks.
Parimal Pandya said: "James was the ideal choice to head up Akamai's ANZ operations. He has an outstanding track record of forging great customer and partner relationships. It's a critical time for organisations to build secure, innovative digital experiences for their customers."
On his promotion, James Richmond commented: "I'm looking forward to continuing to drive Akamai's relationships and strong growth in the ANZ region. At Akamai we always push ourselves to continuously improve the way we service our customers, and to ensure they drive increasing value from the trust placed in our capabilities and expertise."
