Amazon Ads launches AI Video Generator in Australia

Thu, 23rd Apr 2026 (Today)

Amazon Ads has launched its AI-powered Video Generator in Australia. The tool is now available to businesses running Sponsored Brands on the Amazon store.

The rollout gives advertisers a way to create video adverts by uploading product images, existing videos or an Amazon product page, then generating six versions within minutes. The service is available at no extra cost through Creative Studio in Ad Console.

Video production has often been more expensive and time-consuming than static advertising, particularly for smaller companies without in-house creative teams. Amazon Ads is positioning the new tool as a way to lower that barrier for businesses that want to use Sponsored Brands video advertising.

During the Australian beta period, more than 12% of advertisers launching Sponsored Brands video for the first time used videos created with Video Generator. Amazon Ads also cited research it commissioned in 2025, which found Australian SMB marketing leaders believed AI tools could save about 7.3 hours a week, or roughly 45 working days a year, in creating and managing advertising campaigns.

The product uses advertisers' existing assets to build multi-scene videos with transitions, text animation and background music. Advertisers can also upload longer source videos, such as demos or social media clips, and the system will identify segments for shorter ad formats.

They can also add logos and change headlines to keep branding consistent across campaigns. Editing options include logo placement changes and other adjustments to the final video before publication.

Willie Pang, Managing Director of Amazon Ads Australia and New Zealand, said the launch was aimed particularly at businesses that have lacked the time or budget for conventional video production.

"Video advertising has traditionally required significant resources that put it out of reach for many small and medium-sized businesses. For SMBs in Australia, time and resources are precious - every hour saved is time that can be spent growing the business or serving customers better," Pang said.

"With Video Generator, we're democratising access to sophisticated video advertising tools, empowering Australian SMBs to infuse creativity into their brands. Now, businesses of all sizes can create compelling video content that brings their products to life and drives real business outcomes," he added.

Beta feedback

Amazon Ads included comments from two Australian small businesses that tested the tool during the beta phase. Their accounts focused on shorter production times and the ability to increase the volume of video advertising.

"Before Amazon Ads' Video Generator, creating high-quality ad creatives used to take us days, sometimes even weeks," said Chao Wang, Operations Manager at Australian stationery brand Vignette.

"Having access to tools like Video Generator is a game changer for a small business like mine because we can now create product videos in a fraction of the time, which allows us to test more ideas and move quickly. It helps us showcase our products in a much more engaging way, which has improved both our click-through rates and overall conversions," Wang said.

The Sneaker Laundry said the new system also reduced the effort involved in producing campaign video.

"Previously, we spent far too much time and resources creating video advertisements. With the launch of Video Generator, we now have access to an easy-to-use tool to develop sophisticated video ads," said Eugene Cheng, founder of The Sneaker Laundry.

"With this tool, we're able to scale our advertising to include video advertising and support the growth of our business effectively," Cheng said.

Wider push

The Australian launch forms part of a broader expansion of generative AI tools within Amazon Ads. Video Generator follows the earlier Image Generator product and has been used in the US since last year.

Amazon Ads said tens of thousands of campaigns in the US have been submitted using Video Generator. It added that the number submitted through the tool in the third quarter of 2025 was more than four times higher than in the second quarter.

More than 60% of products promoted using Video Generator in the US had never previously been advertised through Sponsored Brands video. This suggests the main commercial opportunity may lie in bringing first-time video advertisers into Amazon's ad buying system, particularly smaller merchants that already sell through its marketplace.

In Australia, the immediate effect will be measured by uptake among Sponsored Brands advertisers and by whether merchants that have relied on image-led listings begin shifting more of their spending into video formats. For Amazon Ads, that would extend the use of creative tools within its advertising platform while keeping production and campaign management in the same system.

Video Generator is available for Sponsored Brands video at no additional cost to advertisers.
