ASRS in a Box launched to help firms meet climate rules

Fri, 15th Aug 2025

Climate & Decisions and Unravel Carbon have jointly unveiled a new compliance solution called ASRS in a Box aimed at supporting Australian companies in meeting mandatory climate reporting obligations.

The offering is designed to help ASX-listed organisations navigate the implementation of the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS), which require detailed climate-related disclosures in accordance with AASB S2. By combining Unravel Carbon's AI-powered reporting technology and Climate & Decisions' advisory services, the solution is intended to streamline and accelerate the compliance process.

Five-step approach

ASRS in a Box presents a five-step programme, starting with a comprehensive gap assessment using AI to evaluate an organisation's current state against more than 220 requirements under the ASRS and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) frameworks. The assessment is followed by a tailored stakeholder engagement stream involving interviews and cross-functional workshops intended to clarify gaps, identify risks, and develop targeted actions.

The next stages include executive and board-level briefings to enhance leadership readiness, as well as the development of a phased roadmap to guide organisations towards regulatory alignment and prioritised implementations. This structure aims to synthesise both technical and strategic aspects of regulatory compliance for businesses facing new sustainability demands.

Executive perspectives

Explaining the rationale behind the new solution, Thierry Lotrian, CEO and Founder of Climate & Decisions, said:

"ASRS in a Box simplifies a highly complex regulatory challenge. We've created a practical, intelligent way for leadership teams to build compliance capability while aligning on strategy."

Echoing the sentiment, Marc Allen, Co-founder and Chief Sustainability Officer at Unravel Carbon, said:

"This isn't just a compliance tool, it's a strategy accelerator. It empowers teams to move from confusion to clarity and from risk to resilience."

Australian context

The introduction of ASRS has led to increased scrutiny of governance structures, climate risk assessment, and the quality of emissions data across listed entities. ASRS in a Box is positioned as a solution adapted to the Australian regulatory environment, seeking to offer both technological efficiency and an understanding of local requirements.

Unravel Carbon brings its ISSB reporting platform to the collaboration, which uses AI to manage sustainability performance and meet global regulatory standards. The platform is utilized by companies and consultants across more than 50 countries, according to the partners. Climate & Decisions contributes advisory skills, assisting organisations with the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into their overall strategy and decision-making processes.

Role of technology and expert support

The partners note that the solution blends the speed and scalability of generative AI with the expertise of consultants equipped to interpret complex regulation and organisational context. The companies state that this combination aims to allow Australian businesses to not just fulfil compliance objectives, but also to inform broader strategic planning related to sustainability and climate response.

Market and regulatory drivers

The compliance landscape in Australia is shifting with the introduction of ASRS, which brings large and mid-sized companies under new obligations for transparent climate reporting. ASX-listed entities are under pressure to demonstrate readiness in climate governance and the management of climate-related risks, making support tools and advisory frameworks an area of growing interest for affected companies.
