Augment & IMDEX partner to enhance mining operations
Augment Technologies has announced a new strategic partnership with IMDEX to enhance ore control, metal recovery, and safety conditions at mining sites globally.
The collaboration seeks to integrate Augment's Muckpile Block Model with IMDEX's BLASTDOG technology, aiming to deliver significant improvements in ore movement and mixing estimations following blasting operations.
The integration of these technologies is expected to arm mine managers and geologists with more precise data, aiding in making informed decisions related to blasting operations. This innovation could potentially eliminate the necessity for personnel to physically inspect the muckpile, thereby improving safety conditions at mine sites.
Greg Hardwich, Co-Founder and Director of Augment Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential to enhance the interoperability of both companies' technologies. "By collaborating with IMDEX's data-rich environment, we can augment miners with a wealth of knowledge and information to make better decisions," Hardwich stated.
He added that BLASTDOG's precise data significantly enhances the accuracy of the pre-blast Grade Control Block Model, while the Muckpile Block Model ensures this accuracy translates post-blast.
Greg Hardwich underscored the importance of this collaboration in contributing to better ore control and metal production, positioning mining companies to be more environmentally responsible. "This combination of industry-leading technology results in better ore control and increased metal production, helping our customer be better custodians of the earth's resources," he noted, describing it as the future of mining.
The partnership is also envisioned as a stepping stone for future collaborations and technological co-development between the two West Australian-based companies. Hardwich mentioned the growing interest in AI applications within the mining sector as a positive sign for the development of solutions like those offered by Augment and IMDEX. "We are excited at the prospects this relationship could bring for the benefit of the global mining industry," he said.
Michelle Carey, Chief Strategy Officer at IMDEX, emphasised the efficiency gains brought about by the synergy between BLASTDOG and the Muckpile Block Model. In the context of increasing global demand for critical minerals, Carey stressed the importance of sustainable mining practices. "As global demand for critical minerals grows, we are being asked to mine more and more, but in a sustainable manner with the lowest impact possible," she commented.
Carey further highlighted that the combination of the two companies' technologies could be pivotal in achieving minimal waste and disruption in ore recovery processes. Entrance into the mining production sector has been earmarked as a priority for IMDEX, and BLASTDOG is presented as a critical solution for mining operations.
"We are always looking for opportunities to expand our offerings and this partnership with Augment Technologies provides a strong pillar to launch further into the industry," Carey affirmed.
