Aurigo launches AI platform to transform data centre planning

Wed, 16th Jul 2025

Aurigo Software has launched an AI-powered capital planning solution designed to support data centre development for owners, investors, and capital partners.

The introduction of Aurigo Primus aims to address a range of challenges faced by the data centre sector, including growing capital expenditure, regulatory complexity, energy requirements, and the surge in demand driven by artificial intelligence workloads.

The global capital expenditure market is forecast to increase from USD $727.81 billion in 2024 to USD $767.84 billion in 2025, reaching USD $2.47 trillion by 2033, at a 5.5% compound annual growth rate. Facility owners are under pressure to deploy capital efficiently at a time when traditional, often fragmented workflows and manual processes can lead to delays and missed opportunities.

Primus is positioned as a platform to bridge the persistent gap between planning and execution in major infrastructure programmes. The platform connects planning with construction activities by leveraging real-time project data and providing a standardised approach to evaluating investment opportunities.

Decision-making

The solution is designed to facilitate decision-making upstream in the project lifecycle, with AI-guided scenario planning and forecasting enabling users to model multi-year portfolio plans and conduct what-if analyses.

Balaji Sreenivasan, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Aurigo Software, stated:

"For years, we've helped governments plan over $450 billion in infrastructure by helping them identify the right projects, justifying them with data, and getting them approved. With Primus, we're bringing that same capability to a wider audience, enabling them to score projects, compare scenarios, quantify ROI, build out multi-year cashflows, and get to a yes, more confidently."

The Primus Plan framework is intended to help facility owners adopt a systematic approach to capital investments, capturing opportunities that align with business strategy. It incorporates comprehensive financial tools for cost forecasting, risk assessment, and budget management. AI features assist with prioritising projects, modelling cash flow and optimising funding strategies, while real-time portfolio monitoring aligns strategic plans with field data.

Operational efficiency

The platform is marketed as a tool for maximising returns on investment by guiding users towards funding decisions that cut capital waste and accelerate planning through automated workflows and AI-driven insight. Centralised data management is intended to provide complete financial visibility, while risk management and scheduling functions track portfolio health and cost drivers.

Pete Olds, Vice President of Professional Services and Customer Success at Aurigo Software, commented:

"Facility owners are often navigating complex and high-stakes capital decisions while relying on legacy software and outdated processes. Primus is built to support the strategic needs of capital planning leaders, giving FP&A professionals, department heads, and operational managers the visibility and control they need to drive better outcomes, faster."

Aurigo reports that its software is already used by large-scale infrastructure owners in North America, including public sector agencies and utilities, to manage over USD $450 billion in capital programmes. The Primus platform is now being customised for organisations engaged in rapid-growth sectors such as data centres, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and warehousing.

The company has indicated plans to expand the platform in 2025 with further AI-powered products that support the full lifecycle of capital programme planning and delivery.
