Austin Technology acquires Lumity to boost AI & automation services

Wed, 10th Sep 2025

Austin Technology has acquired fellow Perth-based managed service provider Lumity Technology Solutions as part of its efforts to expand its service capacity for Australian businesses.

The acquisition is intended to bring new technical talent and capabilities into the Austin Technology organisation, specifically targeting growth areas such as voice and telephony, Microsoft Teams Calling, ultra-fast connectivity, automation, data, and AI consulting.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Austin Technology, Austin Huang, commented on the company's strategic direction following the acquisition.

"By combining forces, we're reinforcing our commitment to supporting Australian businesses with innovative, future-ready solutions. Bringing Lumity into Austin Technology will expand our imagination and engineering capability. This positions us to build smarter systems that deliver real, measurable outcomes for our clients."

Lumity Technology's expertise includes custom-built automation systems and advanced application development. This is expected to complement Austin Technology's established operations in managed IT, cloud services, and cybersecurity, enabling the creation of integrated, end-to-end technology solutions for clients.

The expanded team will feature newly integrated software developers and automation engineers. Austin Technology states this will improve its ability to deliver across key technology areas and offer clients a comprehensive suite of IT services, which now covers cyber security, cloud, voice solutions, telephony, automation, and AI.

Service offering

As part of its updated offering, Austin Technology has provided details of its expanded package list. The new Austin Voice Packages are priced at AUD $15 per extension for unlimited calls, an AUD $5 pay-as-you-go option, with handsets available for either AUD $10 (basic) or AUD $25 (premium) per month, and AUD $10 for inbound 1800/1300 numbers, with an additional AUD $0.08 per minute for calls.

Microsoft Teams Calling will now be included as a core service, supporting seamless unified communications to enhance team efficiency and responsiveness.

Connectivity solutions have been expanded to include National Broadband Network (NBN) options ranging from 50/20 Mbps to 1000/400 Mbps, as well as SD-WAN, MPLS, enterprise fibre, and custom dark fibre quotations. Austin Technology claims these services are designed to provide greater flexibility for organisations requiring high-speed, reliable, and scalable connectivity.

Automation, data, and AI consulting services further expand the portfolio. The focus is on streamlining operations, automating manual processes, and leveraging business data to gain a strategic advantage. The company notes that demand for these services is high, as they are instrumental in helping businesses reduce manual effort, remove operational bottlenecks, and use data more effectively for decision-making.

Strategic direction

Austin Technology describes the acquisition as a key part of its vision for the future, enabling the company to provide advanced technology solutions in areas where demand is rising - such as process automation, machine learning integration, and data-driven business transformation.

"This acquisition is a strategic investment in the kind of talent that can reshape what's possible for our clients," said Mr Huang.

He also pointed out the expanded organisation's capacity to deliver on projects of greater size and complexity. "We'll also be able to support larger and more complex projects, particularly those requiring high levels of customisation or automation. Clients looking to modernise their operations will now have access to a unified team capable of managing everything from infrastructure and connectivity through to process automation, data analytics, and AI implementation without having to coordinate multiple service providers."

Mr Huang further stated: "As Lumity's engineers join our existing team, we can build and deliver highly customised automation and data solutions to support our clients' strategic goals, industry demands, and growth ambitions."

According to Austin Technology, the integration of Lumity Technology's engineers will enhance the company's capability to offer personalised solutions such as client portals, dashboards, AI-based monitoring tools, and tailored APIs, aiming to make their service delivery more proactive and responsive to client needs.

Outlook

Austin Technology describes the merger as strengthening its internal development capacity and accelerating its ability to deliver both standard and bespoke IT services to a wider range of sectors, including healthcare, engineering, professional services, and not-for-profit organisations.

The company believes that existing and new clients can expect heightened service depth and technical expertise going forward.
