Autodesk introduces Australian data storage for Construction Cloud products
Autodesk, known for its software solutions for architecture, engineering, construction and manufacturing sectors, has announced the introduction of a new regional data storage option situated in Australia. The launch of this Australian regional data storage affords customers the choice to primarily store their project data in the country. This data storage location pertains particularly to selected Autodesk Construction Cloud products and is now fully operational.
This development is part of Autodesk's cloud offerings regionalisation strategy. Sumit Oberoi, Industry Strategy Manager, Asia Pacific at Autodesk Construction Solutions, said: "The launch of the Australia region data storage location supports Autodesks regionalisation strategy for our cloud offerings. Having a local data storage option for select Autodesk Construction Cloud services gives our customers more choice with respect to the primary storage of their project data and helps them meet their data residency preferences."
Data in the construction industry is pivotal, driving effective planning, effective execution, and efficacious management of construction projects. Reliable data aids companies in better decision-making processes concerning resource allocation, cost estimation, time management, and risk assessment. By offering expanded choice for the primary storage of project data, Autodesk equips customers to gain superior control of their data strategies.
Steven Bloomer, Regional Information Management Lead at GHD, an Autodesk customer, commented on this provision. He stated: "Hosting Autodesk Construction Cloud in Australia supports our strong focus on data. Secure and effective management of data is a priority for every client we work with and where that project data is stored is critical. This can impact how we enable a collaborative and interconnected common data environment for Australian-based projects. Autodesk establishing Australia as a storage region for project data gives us the option of a local native solution for the Autodesk product stack used in our project delivery."
The new Australian regional data storage option brings specific benefits. It empowers customers with the choice of three global data storage locations for select Autodesk Construction Cloud products, poising trust and control as priorities. Secondly, the Australian server provides optimised performance in the form of reduced latency for customers in the region when utilising these specific services.
The initiation of a data storage option in Australia underlines Autodesk's dedication to its regional customers. It aims to grant clients greater oversight of their project data and help bolster performance for their projects.
