BAE Systems Australia partners with Ivalua for supply chain revamp

Fri, 6th Sep 2024

BAE Systems Australia has opted for Ivalua’s Source-to-Pay platform in a bid to enhance sustainability and mitigate risks in its supply chain operations.

The decision comes amid Australia's increased defence spending of USD $32 billion due to escalating global threats.

By integrating Ivalua’s software, BAE Systems Australia aims to transform its supply chain processes, offering greater visibility and standardised procedures across its network of 1,600 suppliers. This move is expected to improve communication flow and drive operational efficiency.

The Aerospace and Defence sector operates under stringent quality and compliance regulations. The adoption of Ivalua’s unified spend management platform will help BAE Systems Australia meet these requirements, including the Federal Acquisitions Regulation (FAR) and Defence Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). Shaun Barrett, Supply Chain Director at BAE Systems Australia, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, "With its proven track record and expertise in the aerospace and defence industry, robust security standards, and ability to provide unparalleled visibility into both direct and indirect spend, Ivalua is the ideal partner for our digital modernisation journey as it will enable us to meet our complex supply chain requirements while enhancing automation and driving greater operational efficiency."

Ivalua’s platform will also fortify BAE Systems Australia’s efforts to promote the development of a sovereign defence industry. Improving collaboration between the company’s suppliers and internal teams is a vital component of this initiative. Businesses aiming to enter the defence sector are poised to benefit from the streamlined processes and regulatory compliance facilitated by the platform.

Andrew Stafford, Vice President, APAC at Ivalua, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, "We’re proud to partner with a global leader such as BAE Systems Australia to enable their Source-to-Pay transformation. Ivalua is perfectly placed to empower businesses in the Aerospace and Defence industry to navigate their increasingly intricate supply chains and proactively manage daily challenges that threaten to disrupt their operations."

Ivalua’s reputation as a leader in the Aerospace and Defence industry is well-established, with its spend management platform already serving companies such as Rolls Royce, CACI, Teledyne Technologies, SAAB, GKN, MBDA, Thales, and Rheinmetall.

BAE Systems Australia is recognised as the country’s largest defence company, underpinning the design, manufacture, upgrade, and support services provided to the Australian Defence Force, cyber intelligence, and commercial organisations. Implementing Ivalua’s Source-to-Pay platform is seen as a strategic move to ensure complete visibility and efficiency in its multi-tiered supply chain.

The collaboration with Ivalua and KPMG Australia signifies a significant step forward in BAE Systems Australia’s supply chain modernisation efforts, aligning with its objectives in the backdrop of rising defence expenditures and evolving global threats.
