Bizcap has been named one of Australia's Best Workplaces by Great Place To Work, ranking fifth in the medium business category.

The result adds to two other workplace rankings from the organisation this year. Earlier, Bizcap was named one of Australia's Best Workplaces for Women and ranked the top workplace in finance and insurance.

Great Place To Work compiles its lists from employee feedback and workplace data, according to comments released alongside the rankings. Bizcap's appearance across all three lists places it among a relatively small number of employers recognised on a national list, a sector list and a women-focused list in the same year.

Bizcap is a non-bank business lender operating in Australia, the US, the UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Europe and Canada. It says it has funded more than 100,000 small and medium-sized businesses globally, with lending totalling $5 billion.

Three rankings

The latest placement highlights competition among financial services groups as they seek to strengthen recruitment and retention in a sector long shaped by workload pressure, uneven gender representation and close scrutiny of management culture.

For Bizcap, the awards also reflect how workplace standing is increasingly used by lenders and fintech groups to distinguish themselves beyond pricing and growth metrics. Staff engagement, leadership quality and career development have become more visible parts of how these businesses present themselves in the market.

Kirsty Nixon, Head of People and Culture at Bizcap, linked the recognition to internal efforts around employee feedback, professional development and leadership.

"Being recognised across three Great Place To Work lists in a single year is incredibly meaningful because each recognition reflects a different dimension of the culture we are building," Nixon said.

"We want our people to feel supported, challenged and genuinely excited about the work they do. That means listening to them, creating opportunities to grow, investing in strong leadership and continually looking for ways to make the employee experience better. These recognitions tell us that those efforts are being felt by our people."

Culture focus

Bizcap was founded in 2019 and has expanded internationally while focusing on small business lending. It says it can provide approvals within three hours, with same-day funding available in some cases, a model that places pressure on operational teams as the business scales.

That growth makes workplace recognition relevant beyond branding. Fast-growing lenders often face challenges in maintaining internal processes, management standards and staff cohesion as they enter new markets and add headcount.

Rebecca del Rio, Deputy CEO APAC and Global Chief Revenue Officer at Bizcap, said the company had tried to ensure its workplace culture developed alongside the business.

"As Bizcap has grown, we have been very deliberate about making sure our culture grows with us rather than becoming something we leave behind," del Rio said.

"To be recognised across three different Great Place To Work lists in one year means a great deal because it shows that our people experience the values we talk about every day. Being recognised for our overall workplace, for the experience of women, and as the number one workplace in our industry gives us confidence that we are building something genuinely special and, importantly, something we can continue to strengthen as the business grows."

Sector context

Comments from Great Place To Work also pointed to Bizcap's standing within finance and insurance, where employers have faced persistent questions around inclusion and progression for women. The issue has become a recurring benchmark for culture rankings and internal people strategies across the sector.

Rebecca Moulynox, General Manager for Australia and New Zealand at Great Place To Work, said Bizcap's ranking in finance and insurance stood out against the sector backdrop.

"Bizcap being named Australia's #1 Best Workplace in Finance and Insurance is a standout result. Finance and insurance is an industry that has historically struggled with gender representation, and Bizcap stands out with a notably more balanced gender mix than is typical for the sector, proof that inclusive culture and top-tier performance go hand in hand," Moulynox said.

"There are very few organisations we work with that show up not only on Australia's Best Workplaces list, but also on an industry-specific list and the Best Workplaces for Women list. Bizcap appearing across all three, including taking the #1 spot on the Finance and Insurance list, puts it in a small group of truly great workplaces. These lists are all determined by the voices of employees themselves, and there's no better testament to a workplace culture than that."

The triple appearance gives Bizcap independent recognition across several measures of employee experience at a time when workplace reputation is becoming a more prominent factor in how financial services employers compete for staff. The latest ranking places it fifth among medium-sized businesses in Australia.
