BlackLine appoints Jeremy Ung as new Chief Technology Officer

BlackLine, Inc. has announced the appointment of Jeremy Ung as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his new role, Ung will be instrumental in guiding the technology direction of BlackLine's cloud platform, as the firm continues to build on its global demand for automation, efficiency, governance, and risk management solutions for the finance sector. Reporting directly to Founder and Co-CEO Therese Tucker, Ung's tenure as CTO commenced on April 15, 2024.

Tucker expressed great confidence in Ung's capabilities, lauding his wide range of technical, interpersonal, and managerial prowess gained throughout his work with various companies. According to her, "Jeremy has been instrumental in providing the technology vision, strategy, and leadership to run and scale leading-edge technology organisations. We have found a leader who not only understands the complexities of cloud infrastructure but also shares our commitment to customer success and product innovation as we continue to grow and deliver AI-powered solutions for the Office of the CFO."

Ung brings over two decades of experience in software engineering to his new role, making him an invaluable addition to the BlackLine team. His career encompasses successful stints in roles of development, product management, and engineering management. Prior to BlackLine, he served as CTO at the AI-powered technology financial management software firm, Apptio, where he headed the Engineering, Operations, and Global Support teams. His experience further includes lucrative leadership positions at Amazon Web Services, as well as senior programming and software management roles at Microsoft and geo-intelligence pioneer, MDA.

Speaking about his new role, Ung highlighted BlackLine's consistent delivery of benchmark-standard software that addresses the complex challenges faced by CFOs. He sees his appointment as an incredible opportunity to further build upon BlackLine's legacy. "Joining BlackLine as CTO gives me an incredible opportunity to build on that foundation and impact the finance and accounting technology landscape of the future," he said. Adding to his wealth of experience, Ung holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and English from the University of British Columbia. As the new CTO of BlackLine, Ung will undoubtedly play a crucial role in forging the firm's path forward into the future of finance and accounting technology.
