Cohesity Gaia enhanced with new visual data explorer

Thu, 24th Oct 2024

Cohesity has announced enhancements to its data exploration tool, Gaia, aimed at improving data insights for enterprises dealing with unstructured data.

The integration of a visual data exploration capability into Cohesity Gaia allows users to visually categorise data themes, which enables them to derive insights faster. According to the statement released, Cohesity Gaia aids enterprises by indexing and analysing a wide range of data, including unstructured formats such as emails, text files, and presentations.

Cohesity Gaia employs advanced AI techniques including natural language processing to rapidly identify hidden thematic structures within datasets. This functionality is particularly beneficial for enterprises as they often face challenges in obtaining insights from vast datasets due to the nature of unstructured data.

The newly introduced visual data explorer allows users to navigate through different themes, engage with intelligent prompts, and efficiently retrieve relevant information. Cohesity has highlighted its commitment to providing AI solutions that ensure data security and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Chirag Mehta, Principal Cybersecurity Analyst with Constellation Research, commented on the potential impact of Cohesity Gaia, stating, "By addressing the challenge of managing and extracting insights from unstructured data across disparate systems, Cohesity Gaia and its new visual data explorer have the potential to revolutionize data accessibility for enterprises. This innovation not only could enhance data security and compliance but could also empower business users of enterprise customers with deeper, more contextual insights, significantly benefiting the decision-making process and operational efficiency."

Cohesity has also expanded Gaia's support to include data from Microsoft 365 platforms, along with on-premise and cloud-based file servers including Dell EMC Isilon and NetApp NAS. This expanded support aims to help enterprises leverage the breadth of data stored across various platforms.

Craig Martell, Chief Technology Officer at Cohesity, reflected on the company's objectives with the development of Gaia. He stated, "We developed Cohesity Gaia because we believe that companies should be able to unlock valuable insights from the data they're spending so much time and so many resources to protect. It should be easy for business users to ask a question of their data and get an accurate, useful result, even if the data resides in disparate locations and different systems or how far back in history it goes. That is the promise of what Cohesity Gaia will deliver."

Cohesity Gaia has been acknowledged as a 2024 Tech Innovator by CRN in the AI category, highlighting its role in technological advancements.

The visual data explorer feature and expansions for new data sources will be part of the upcoming October release of Cohesity Gaia.
