Thu, 3rd Oct 2024

D2L's learning platform, Brightspace, has been ranked as the leading system for teaching and learning by the Tambellini Group, a prestigious analyst firm specialising in higher education.

The recognition came through the Tambellini StarChart 2024, which focuses on usability and innovation in Learning Management Systems (LMS).

The Tambellini Group analysis categorised D2L Brightspace within the 'Commander' designation, which refers to market-leading solutions characterised by innovative, user-centric designs. This category is reserved for platforms that establish industry benchmarks through excellence and influence significant market trends.

John Baker, Founder and CEO of D2L, expressed satisfaction with the recognition from the Tambellini Group, stating, "We are excited to see our dedication to building world-leading client experiences and innovation acknowledged by the Tambellini Group." He emphasised D2L's mission to transform learning, making it more engaging and personalised. "This ranking reflects our ongoing commitment to build the best learning platform in the world and one that can make the learning experience better for both learners and educators," he added.

Further support for the capabilities of D2L Brightspace came from Matt Winn, a Senior Analyst at the Tambellini Group, who highlighted the company's focus on enhancing Brightspace with AI and other tools. "It is clear that D2L is committed to the ongoing expansion and enhancement of Brightspace. Their approach to both AI and tools that strengthen teaching and learning makes them a leader in the current market. As expectations continue to rise in higher education, D2L offers technology to help institutions prioritise student experience and outcomes," stated Winn.

This latest accolade from the Tambellini Group adds to the recognition received earlier in the year when Brightspace was awarded the "Easiest to Use" LMS by G2, a significant peer-to-peer review platform. G2's evaluation measured user satisfaction regarding the ease of administration and the platform's ability to meet key business requirements.

Testimonials from educational professionals also underline the platform's effectiveness. Adrian Peterson, an Instructional Designer at Delaware Technical and Community College, remarked, "Brightspace has been an amazing platform that has allowed us to transform the way we approach teaching and learning both synchronously and asynchronously. It seems that no matter what we want to do, no matter what problem we want to solve, Brightspace can be used to meet our goals."

Additionally, Dan Stephenson, a New Media Production and Design Instructor at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, shared his experience, stating, "The time I spend managing my classes, marking assignments and prepping my lessons has decreased by at least 30 percent since I started to use Brightspace."
