Datacom has appointed Kelly Johnson as Associate Director of Sales, Australia, for its Product Solutions Group, as the business reports strong growth in the market.

Johnson will lead the group's Australian sales team and manage customer and partner relationships across the country. The Product Solutions Group supports government and commercial customers with hardware, software, cloud, licensing and lifecycle services.

She joins Datacom with more than 30 years of experience in the technology industry spanning sales leadership, business transformation, cybersecurity, cloud and distribution. Her previous senior roles include positions at Pax8, Acronis, Arrow ECS, ESET and Ingram Micro.

Datacom said the Australian business has been expanding and that the new role is designed to extend its reach with customers and partners. The Product Solutions Group works with technology vendors to supply products and related services to public and private sector organisations.

Johnson's appointment adds an experienced sales executive to what Datacom describes as a growth area. Her background spans Australia, New Zealand and international markets, where she has led teams and developed vendor and customer relationships.

Speaking alongside the appointment, Johnson outlined her view of the role technology suppliers and advisers play in customer decision-making.

"The right hardware and software foundations are critical to how organisations operate, adapt and innovate. A trusted technology partner can help customers make the right choices, get more from their investments and build with confidence," said Kelly Johnson, Associate Director of Sales, Australia, Datacom.

She also set out her plans for the role.

"I'm looking forward to working with our teams, customers and partners across Australia to ensure more organisations have the technology they need to support their ambitions and future growth," Johnson said.

Growth plans

James David, Head of PSG Sales and GTM at Datacom, said the appointment reflects the trajectory of the Australian business. He linked the hire to the company's efforts to broaden its market presence and deepen existing customer relationships.

"Our Product Solutions Group is experiencing significant growth in Australia, and Kelly's appointment will help us build on that momentum. This is an important role in our plans to expand our reach, strengthen our customer relationships and bring Datacom's broad portfolio of technology solutions to a wider range of organisations across the market," David said.

He also pointed to Johnson's industry background and customer-facing experience.

"Kelly brings deep industry expertise, a strong understanding of the technology landscape and a proven ability to identify new opportunities and build trusted customer relationships. She will play an important role in bringing Datacom's capabilities to more organisations across Australia," David said.

Industry background

Johnson's career has spanned several segments of the technology market, including software, security, cloud and channel distribution. Across her previous roles, she has worked with vendors, partners and end customers, giving her experience across multiple parts of the supply chain.

Datacom also described her as an industry advocate focused on collaboration, cybersecurity awareness and leadership development. These themes have become more prominent across the sector as technology suppliers and service providers compete for customers navigating procurement, security and operational demands.

The appointment adds senior leadership to a regional technology company with a workforce of almost 6,000 across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Datacom operates across technology services, operations, digital services and product-focused offerings, with the Product Solutions Group forming part of its broader customer portfolio.

Johnson said her decision to join the business came during a period of change for both the company and the industry.

"I'm delighted to be joining Datacom at such an exciting time for the business and the broader technology industry. Having spent more than 30 years working across the global technology ecosystem, I've seen firsthand the impact that strong customer relationships, empowered teams and genuine collaboration can have on business success," Johnson said.
