Datasec Solutions & HP form alliance to enhance edge security solutions

Thu, 2nd Nov 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Datasec Solutions and HP Inc. have established a pioneering alliance in the realm of edge security designed to boost workplace productivity and bolster data protection. The aim is to deliver state-of-the-art, phishing-resistant authentication solutions to multi-function printers (MFPs).

Both companies are paving the way to transform user authentication and authorisation by presenting a contemporary, passwordless experience. This new approach will be implemented in the access of HP MFPs and Microsoft Office 365 on the device, intending to create a seamless and secure access control solution for businesses of all sizes.

Cybersecurity incidents involving passwords and the administrative strain of password management have emerged as substantial deterrents for organisations striving to mitigate persistent and costly cyber threats. Datasec and HP's Workforce Solutions Division have collaborated to respond to these challenges, answering to a decline in confidence in print security as the cost of print-related data losses grows.

Significant findings from Quocirca's Print Security Landscape 2023 report highlight the gravity of these issues. The study reveals that up to 55% of organisations reported a cybersecurity incident in the past year, with 61% saying they experienced a data loss related to insecure printing. Almost two in five (39%) stated it is becoming more challenging to satisfy print security demands, and an expected 75% to 90% anticipate increasing their print security spending over the ensuing year.

Addressing these broader market concerns, Mr Paul Waite, Founder of Datasec Solutions, declared that the suite is tailored to providing a layered approach to authentication. This assures only sanctioned access to business data and documents through HP MFPs.

"The launch of our new authentication suite is a significant step forward in providing enhanced security solutions for businesses using internet-facing multi-functional devices," Mr Waite states.

"We understand the importance of secure access control for our customers and the pivotal role modern authentication plays in today's digital landscape and hybrid workplaces."

He explained how the suite proposes a simplified yet potent solution, ideal for businesses seeking a 'convenience without compromise' security approach.

Paul Birkett, HP's Global Head of Workflow Solutions, conveyed his company's enthusiasm for the partnership, saying: "At HP, we are committed to providing our customers with the most secure and innovative solutions, and this suite is a great example of that commitment."

The authentication suite allows businesses to incorporate and manage user access and control policies, thus streamlining and securing essential productivity workflows for employees. Notably, it requires no additional hardware or software, with seamless integration within HP's Wolf Security framework. It also supports effortless deployment and management through HP's cloud-based Workpath platform.

The pioneering HP Authentication Suite is ready to enhance edge device security and protect corporate data, placing emphasis on the productivity of the modern workforce. It is currently available for all businesses aiming to reinforce and future-proof their cybersecurity measures.
