Dell appoints Richard McLaughlin as APJC president

Thu, 5th Feb 2026

Dell Technologies has appointed Richard McLaughlin as President of Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China, handing him responsibility for corporate strategy and sales across one of the company's largest regional groupings.

McLaughlin succeeds Peter Marrs, who is moving to a senior leadership role with Dell's North America team. McLaughlin reports to Pete Trizzino, President of Global Sales, and will be based in the region.

The APJC remit covers Australia and New Zealand, Greater China, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and South Asia and Emerging Markets. It spans developed markets with large enterprise and public sector customers as well as fast-growing economies that are increasing spending on cloud, data centre infrastructure and cybersecurity.

McLaughlin joins the role after holding senior positions in Dell's sales organisation. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President overseeing a global team working with multinational corporations.

His appointment draws on a long career at Dell. He joined the company in 1999 and has held executive roles including Vice President for the Americas and Director for Global Accounts in Financial Services.

Before joining Dell, he held sales leadership positions at IBM/Tivoli, Compuware, Princeton Softech and NCR. The company also said he has a focus on team development, customer relationships and community involvement.

Leadership change

The leadership transition comes as global technology suppliers continue to adjust regional strategies around hybrid cloud adoption, infrastructure refresh cycles and increased interest in artificial intelligence projects. In APJC, spending patterns vary widely by country, with mature markets seeking efficiency gains and compliance-driven upgrades, while emerging markets often prioritise expansion of core computing, storage and networking.

Dell positions APJC as a key growth region for its commercial and public sector business. Large multinational customers use the region as both a market and an operational footprint, which places added emphasis on consistency across service delivery, channel execution and partner programmes.

Trizzino linked McLaughlin's experience to customer delivery and regional growth expectations.

"Rich's global expertise and customer-first mindset created meaningful outcomes for customers worldwide. I'm confident he will build on that momentum and drive continued growth in APJC," said Pete Trizzino, President, Global Sales.

Trizzino also referenced Marrs' contribution in the role and his next assignment within the company.

"I'd also like to thank Peter for his leadership in APJC and look forward to his continued impact in his new role in North America," said Trizzino.

AI focus

McLaughlin described the regional opportunity and pointed to artificial intelligence as an area of customer interest. Many organisations in the region are assessing AI use cases alongside requirements for data management, privacy controls and modernised infrastructure.

"We have tremendous opportunity in APJC, and I'm honoured to take on this role working alongside our talented teams, valued customers and trusted partners," said Richard McLaughlin, President, Asia Pacific, Japan & Greater China, Dell Technologies.

"With a strong portfolio of solutions and a culture of innovation, we will help our customers embrace the power of AI, simplify processes and navigate this exciting new era of technology. Together, we'll accelerate growth and achieve even greater success in this dynamic and important market," said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University College of Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a concentration in Finance from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

In his new post, he will oversee Dell's regional sales execution and corporate strategy across the APJC markets while Marrs takes up his next senior leadership role with the company's North America team.
