Airrived launches sovereign AI platform for governments

Airrived has launched a Sovereign AI Platform for governments and enterprises, designed to let organisations run agentic AI within their own environments.

The launch marks a push by the Dubai-based company into a market where customers in regulated sectors want tighter control over how artificial intelligence is deployed, managed and secured.

The platform allows customers to build, deploy and operate agentic AI on-premises, on private graphics processing unit infrastructure or in fully air-gapped environments. It covers models, agent orchestration, data and supporting infrastructure, positioning it as an alternative to externally hosted AI services.

Airrived is targeting governments, critical infrastructure operators, financial institutions and other organisations with strict requirements around data handling and system access. In those sectors, moving prompts, sensitive data or operational workflows to third-party cloud services can be difficult to justify under internal controls or national data sovereignty rules.

Control focus

At the centre of the product is Airrived's Agentic OS, described as an end-to-end operating layer for AI agents and agent-based applications. Customers can use pre-built AI applications or create their own agents while retaining control of the underlying infrastructure.

The platform brings together model management, agent orchestration, enterprise context, reasoning, governance, observability and AI applications in a single architecture. Customers can also use their own preferred models or Airrived's models locally, depending on deployment requirements.

Airrived argues that this approach addresses two concerns that have emerged as businesses scale AI beyond pilot projects: operational control over where data and intelligence reside, and cost exposure from consumption-based pricing tied to external model usage.

The platform is intended to reduce dependence on token-based pricing from software-as-a-service AI providers by enabling organisations to run workloads within their own perimeter. That model may appeal to large users seeking more predictable spending and direct oversight of computing resources.

The launch follows recognition for Airrived in the AWS/CTIB Cybersecurity Startup Accelerator, where it received the top overall ranking. The programme is backed by Amazon Web Services, CrowdStrike, CyberE71 and the UAE Cyber Security Council.

The result gives the company external validation as it seeks contracts in markets where trust, resilience and compliance often carry as much weight as technical performance. Cybersecurity and infrastructure assurance are likely to be central considerations for buyers assessing autonomous software agents in sensitive operating environments.

Regional demand

Airrived linked the new platform to a broader policy direction across the Middle East, where governments have pursued national AI strategies alongside demands for domestic control over digital infrastructure. In the Gulf, state-backed initiatives have increasingly stressed the need to keep strategic data, computing resources and key systems within national or organisational boundaries.

That has created an opening for suppliers offering AI systems that can operate without sending data to external cloud environments. For public sector bodies and regulated enterprises, sovereignty is becoming as much a procurement issue as a technical one.

Airrived also pointed to an existing regional deployment through its partnership with Wizdom. According to the company, Wizdom uses Airrived's Agentic OS within its own data centre infrastructure, providing a live example of the sovereign deployment model now being offered more broadly.

In practical terms, customers can choose to run AI entirely on-premises, in isolated networks or on private compute infrastructure. Organisations can also apply access controls and governance rules across AI operations, a factor likely to matter for internal audit, security teams and regulators.

One broader question for the sector is whether enterprises will continue to centralise AI around large public cloud model providers or build more localised systems for specific workloads. Airrived is arguing that for agentic AI, particularly where software is expected to take actions rather than simply answer prompts, some customers will prefer to keep the full stack under their own control.

Anurag Gurtu outlined that position in comments accompanying the launch. "AI sovereignty isn't simply about where your data is stored. It's about who controls the entire intelligence stack," said Anurag Gurtu, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Airrived.

He added: "Enterprises should be able to own their data, choose their models, operate their agents and control their infrastructure - without sacrificing the power of agentic AI. That's what we're delivering."

Gurtu framed the shift as part of a broader evolution in enterprise technology. "Cloud democratized infrastructure. Generative AI democratized intelligence. The next step is making that intelligence truly yours," he said. "The future of enterprise AI will not just be agentic. It will be sovereign."
