Zscaler has appointed Sanjay Yadave Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan, expanding his remit from Greater Asia to the wider regional business.

He will oversee operations across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Greater China, with responsibility for regional staffing, business strategy and investment.

The appointment comes as technology suppliers across the region position themselves around rising corporate spending on artificial intelligence, including AI agents in business processes. Enterprises in Asia Pacific and Japan are moving from experimentation to broader deployment, increasing demand for security and governance tools.

Yadave joined Zscaler in 2024 and most recently served as Vice President and Managing Director for Greater Asia. During that time, the company expanded its data centre footprint, increased its presence in South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines, and opened a Singapore office to support its regional team.

It also added customers in Greater Asia, including BDO Bank, Korea Zinc, International SOS, PT Bank Hibank and NCS.

Before joining Zscaler, Yadave held senior roles at VMware, Amazon Web Services and BT. He has worked in the technology sector for more than 25 years.

The leadership change underscores the importance of Asia Pacific and Japan to Zscaler's regional plans. Cybersecurity vendors increasingly view the region as a source of growth as companies modernise networks, move applications to the cloud and add AI-based tools to internal operations.

Regional remit

Yadave's promotion gives him responsibility for one of Zscaler's broadest international territories. It spans mature technology markets such as Japan, Australia and South Korea, as well as faster-growing Southeast Asian economies where multinational suppliers have been expanding local sales and support teams.

Zscaler has been building its presence in those markets while competing with other cybersecurity groups seeking to capture spending on zero-trust architectures, cloud access controls and secure connectivity. Giving Yadave a wider geographic remit suggests the company wants closer alignment across markets that have often developed at different speeds.

For customers, the backdrop is a changing security environment. Companies adopting AI systems, particularly agent-based tools that can take actions across business workflows, face added scrutiny over access, data handling and trust.

In comments released by the company, Yadave linked his appointment to that shift in demand.

"I am honoured to take on this role at such a defining moment for our customers and for Zscaler," said Sanjay Yadave, Senior Vice President, APJ, Zscaler. "Across Asia Pacific and Japan, organisations are moving fast from experimenting with AI to putting AI agents to work across their business, and every one of those agents needs to be secured, governed and trusted. Zscaler was built for this era. Having spent two years building our Greater Asia business alongside an exceptional team, I look forward to working with our customers, partners and people across the entire APJ region to take Zscaler to the next level of growth."

Growth focus

Zscaler's leadership also presented the move as part of a broader expansion effort in APJ. The company views the region as a significant contributor to its international business, reflecting both demand from large enterprises and the complexity of securing users and applications across dispersed markets.

Ross Tackett, Zscaler's Chief Revenue Officer, said Yadave had already established himself in the Greater Asia role.

"Asia Pacific & Japan is one of the most important growth engines for Zscaler, and Sanjay has proven he is the leader to take it to the next level," said Tackett. "His ability to deliver measurable results, build high-performing teams and earn the trust of customers and partners across Greater Asia has been clear from day one. As enterprises across the region scale agentic AI, they need a security platform built for the AI era, and I am confident Sanjay will drive significant growth and innovation for Zscaler in this critical region."

The appointment puts a long-serving regional technology executive at the centre of Zscaler's push across a diverse set of APJ markets, following a period in which the company expanded operations in Greater Asia and opened a Singapore office to support its growing team.
