Discovery Consulting appoints SAP leader for NSW push
Discovery Consulting has appointed SAP leader Mark Miranda to run its expansion in New South Wales, with responsibility for profit and loss, team growth and new client acquisition in the state.
The consultancy said Miranda will lead its NSW business as it seeks to replicate its growth in Victoria. The company also set an aim to position itself as a preferred SAP partner for mid-market organisations by 2028.
Discovery Consulting said Miranda will focus on its SAP HR, payroll and finance work for mid-market customers. The company linked the move to rising operational, regulatory and workforce complexity for these organisations.
"Mark is a people-first leader who understands transformation from the ground up," said Alistair Elliott, Managing Partner, Discovery Consulting.
"He speaks the language of CFOs, understands the realities facing HR and payroll teams, and has a proven ability to bring IT, finance and people leaders together to drive real outcomes. His track record of building and scaling teams makes him the ideal leader to grow our NSW business," said Elliott.
Role scope
Discovery Consulting said Miranda will take responsibility for business development in NSW. The company also said he will oversee team expansion in the state. It also listed strengthening partner relationships as part of his remit.
The firm cited relationships with SAP, WalkMe, Qualtrics and WorkForce Software. It said Miranda will work to strengthen and expand these relationships.
Discovery Consulting positions itself as a specialist SAP consultancy. It works across ERP and HR-related projects and serves sectors including education, construction, mining, public sector and essential services, according to the company.
Experience focus
Discovery Consulting described Miranda as having experience across HR, payroll, finance and enterprise transformation. It also highlighted an accounting consulting background and work with HR and payroll systems.
The company said Miranda has built and scaled teams in prior roles. It also said he has acted as a spokesperson on HR transformation and emerging technologies at global consulting firms. The company said he has presented on AI and workforce innovation to audiences of more than 2,000 people.
Miranda said he would prioritise early engagement across business functions and frontline teams.
"Transformation only works when HR, Finance and IT are aligned, and when frontline teams are brought into the conversation," said Mark Miranda.
"I'm a big believer in asking the right questions early, listening carefully, and measuring twice before committing to change. When people trust the process, outcomes follow," said Miranda.
Mid-market demand
The company said it sees demand in the mid-market for SAP-related HR, payroll and finance projects. It framed this demand around compliance and operating pressures that organisations face as they manage growing workforces and regulatory obligations.
Discovery Consulting also linked Miranda's background to this focus. It said he can quantify business value from technology implementations. It also said this has contributed to credibility with finance leaders.
The company described Miranda as someone who has worked on outcomes such as reducing manual processes, improving compliance outcomes and strengthening workforce engagement. It did not provide customer names or financial targets associated with these outcomes.
Discovery Consulting also said Miranda has experience discussing products including SAP SuccessFactors. The company said he focuses on topics such as productivity, costs and risk. It did not set out what product mix it plans to prioritise in NSW.
Partnership approach
In addition to SAP, the company cited several technology providers it works with. WalkMe is known for digital adoption tools that sit on top of enterprise software. Qualtrics provides employee and customer experience survey and analytics products. WorkForce Software operates in workforce management, including time and attendance and scheduling.
Discovery Consulting said the NSW expansion will also involve expanding long-term client partnerships. The company did not disclose headcount plans in NSW or the size of its NSW operation today.
Miranda said he will take a practical approach to technology delivery.
"Technology should make work easier and faster - if it doesn't do that, it's just noise," said Miranda.
"My role is to help organisations cut through that noise and deliver solutions that create immediate, lasting value," said Miranda.
