Diverse perspectives driving innovation for the real world

Fri, 6th Mar 2026

The consumer technology sector is a competitive space to operate and while the sector has long been driven by innovation and rapid growth, representation of women at leadership levels is not always travelling at the same speed.

Throughout my career, I have seen first-hand that diversity in leadership helps forge change, push boundaries and evolve brands and businesses with new ideas and innovations.

As the first Country Manager for Tineco in Australia and New Zealand, I am proud to lead the next phase of growth for the brand in a market where our retail footprint and product portfolio have never been stronger.

As more women choose to enter the technology sector and their unique perspectives are nurtured, we can expect to see the advent of a new era of technological change in consumer product development and marketing.

Taking the lead to grow and evolve

Tineco's reputation is steeped in cleaning innovation, and it is with fresh ideas and new approaches that we can strengthen its presence through expanded ranging and greater consumer accessibility through local retailers across the region.

In my professional experience, I have had the opportunity to launch and scale innovative product categories in Australia, helping global brands establish a meaningful local presence.

When competition is fierce it is diverse opinions from varied life experience that can develop new approaches to make an impact. Personally, I am excited to see the voices of women coming to the fore and commanding change.

Where understanding brings innovation

Tineco is a global leader in wet and dry floor cleaners and is a trusted brand for thousands of consumers across the world. That leadership position has largely been driven by a keen understanding of the needs of consumers.

Success has always come down to understanding people first. For the end-consumer, it is about understanding how they live, what they value and how technology can genuinely make life easier.

As working mothers, we carry multiple roles - leader, partner, caregiver, planner, problem-solver. The invisible household workload is real. And this is where technology, when thoughtfully designed, can truly make a difference.

In the consumer tech space, we have the opportunity - and responsibility - to create products that genuinely release household burden, not just add another device into the home. Technology should work quietly in the background, so mums can focus on what matters most: family, career, health, and themselves.

With a holistic approach to technology development and business strategy, women bring critical insights, particularly in categories that are deeply embedded in everyday life.

For brands operating globally but growing locally, inclusive leadership also enhances cultural understanding. The needs of Australian and New Zealand consumers can differ from other markets, and having leadership embedded within the region allows for more nuanced decision-making.

Partnerships drive progress

The Australian and New Zealand markets are sophisticated and highly competitive. Consumers expect premium performance, intuitive design and strong after-sales support. Nurturing retail partnerships is critical in delivering that experience and at Tineco we remain committed to retail training and offering strong in-store education and compelling POS about the key feature benefits of the Tineco range.

The importance of nurturing female leadership

As Tineco's Country Manager for ANZ, my focus is on long-term, sustainable growth. We are continuing to expand retail partnerships, increase brand visibility and ensure our intelligent and innovative cleaning solutions meet the evolving needs of time-poor, busy households across both countries.

Technology products and the ways in which consumers interact and search for our range is evolving. With artificial intelligence, smart home integration and social media reshaping how we engage with our end-users, it is more important than ever to have diverse perspectives to mould technological innovation to reflect the world it serves.
