Egress & CrowdStrike unite to manage human risk in email systems
Thu, 9th Nov 2023

Cybersecurity firm Egress has announced a strategic partnership with CrowdStrike to revolutionise the management of human risk in email systems. The partnership allows Egress to use CrowdStrike’s Falcon Identity Protection as a source of intelligence in Egress’s adaptable security model for cloud email.

Egress employs a dynamic adaptive security model for cloud email, with the goal of morphing threat protection and transforming how human risk in email is managed. The Falcon Identity Protection bolstersthe CrowdStrike Falcon platform’s core managed detection and response service by providing managed identity security in a seamless manner.

Uniquely, Egress generates aggregated individual risk scores by amplifying product telemetry, OSINT, and behavioural data with threat intelligence drawn from any third-party security application via a two-way open API. If a score hits a high-risk threshold, products within the Intelligent Email Security platform adapt their controls to shield against advanced inbound and outbound threats. As per the recent announcement, Egress’s risk score will now be fortified by CrowdStrike's Falcon Identity Protection Risk Score.

Egress announced the new integration on November 8th, 2023. This venture intertwines the Egress Intelligent Email Security suite with the AI-native CrowdStrike Falcon XDR platform to enhance Egress’s adaptive security model with identity risk scoring data from CrowdStrike Identity Threat Protection. The resultant synergy empowers customers to thwart email-based threats prompted by risky human behaviours.

The Egress Intelligent Email Security suite merges adaptive security architecture with AI-based detection abilities to safeguard organisations from sophisticated phishing attacks, human error, and data loss. Egress’s security suite ascertains aggregated individual risk scores by boosting product telemetry, open-source intelligence, and behavioural data with threat intelligence drawn from any third-party security application via a two-way open API.

When the risk score hits a high-risk threshold, the Intelligent Email Security platform products spontaneously adapt their controls to counter advanced threats from intellectual property theft to data breaches. A significant development from the announcement is that Egress’s risk score will now be enriched considerably by data from the AI-native CrowdStrike Falcon XDR platform to supply a comprehensive view of user human risk.

Egress CEO Tony Pepper said, "Every year, reports from across the industry highlight that the human element is involved in the majority of security incidents. Changing this narrative is only possible if vendors work together to share intelligence that can be aggregated to provide a hyper-accurate understanding of human risk across an organization." The CEO further adds, the development is a positive step for Egress customers. It enables them to respond dynamically as risk changes across their estate and prepares for threats before they materialise.
