Epson named one of the top 100 global innovators

Epson has been listed among the 2017 Top 100 Global Innovators announced by Clarivate Analytics.

Epson has been named to the list every year since its inception in 2011.

Epson holds a significant number of patents globally and is working with patent agencies in 20 countries or more at any given time.

In the patent rankings for 2016, Epson ranked 7th in Japan for the number of patents awarded, 15th in the U.S. and 16th in China among foreign companies.

Epson executive officer Toshiya Takahata says, “Epson is honoured to have been selected for inclusion on the top 100 global innovators list for the seventh consecutive year.

“Epson's business strategies and intellectual property strategies are closely linked under our Epson 25 corporate vision, the acquisition of high-quality patents that contribute to our business is a high priority for us.

“We are constantly seeking to realise products and services that exceed the expectations of our customers and society, and believe we have been honoured as a global innovator out of an appreciation for our research and development efforts and intellectual property activities.

Seiko Epson is recognised this year as one of the Clarivate Analytics 2017 top 100 global innovators.

They are also amongst the best being one of only 37 organisations to have been recognised for the seventh year in a row since the inception of the program in 2011.    Clarivate Analytics analyses intellectual property and patent trends based on proprietary data to determine the world's most innovative corporations and institutions.

The analysis covers four main criteria: patent volume, success, globalisation, and influence.

Begun in 2011, the Top 100 Global Innovators report is now in its seventh year.
