Figma launches AI-powered Make tool for Australian users

Mon, 28th Jul 2025

Figma has launched its AI-powered prompt-to-app tool, Figma Make, for users in Australia.

Figma Make allows users to generate interactive prototypes by providing a natural language prompt or by pasting existing Figma designs, with the output reflecting consistent brand styling and ready for developer handoff.

The company stated that this tool is designed to help teams fast-track the design-to-development process by extracting style and structure directly from existing design systems. Figma Make is intended to enable faster exploration of solutions, improve collaboration, and accelerate iteration of product designs.

"AI is transforming the product development process by allowing anyone–regardless of technical ability–to turn ideas into working products or prototypes," said Scott Pugh, Figma's Asia Pacific General Manager. "Figma Make welcomes even more people into the product development process, while raising the ceiling for what's possible by giving designers and builders access to tools and capabilities that allow them to push their craft even further."

Figma Make operates within the broader Figma platform and integrates into existing design and development workflows. Teams have the option to bring style context from a Figma library into Figma Make, ensuring greater visual consistency by automatically extracting styling CSS and applying it to the resulting prototypes and code.

The availability of Figma Make extends to all Figma users in Australia, including those on the Starter free plan as well as on all paid plans.

The rollout is part of a wider expansion of Figma's AI features, which include Rename layers, Make or Edit image, and Replace Content. These tools have now moved from beta to general access across all paid plans.

Figma has additionally introduced its Dev Mode MCP Server.

This feature allows developers to bring design context from Figma into coding tools such as Copilot in VS Code, Cursor, and Claude Code, enabling a smoother transition between designing and developing digital products.

Since launching an office in Sydney in late 2024, Figma has supported a range of enterprise clients in Australia, including National Australia Bank (NAB), Safety Culture, and Atlassian. The company has also implemented a local data residency capability, allowing enterprise customers to choose to host their data within Australia. This option will be available to Australian customers from the fourth quarter and is being provided to offer greater control over data locality while using Figma's platform.

Australian users now have access to the full suite of Figma products. These include Figma Design for design and prototyping, Dev Mode for translating designs into code, FigJam for collaboration via a digital whiteboard, Figma Slides for co-created presentations, Figma Draw for advanced vector illustration, Figma Buzz for scalable asset production (currently in beta), and Figma Sites for publishing responsive websites (also in beta).

Figma positions the launch of Figma Make as part of its ongoing effort to broaden participation in the design process and provide access to a diverse set of tools for both individuals and organisations across design and development.
