Fusion5 repositions as transformation partner with brand revamp
Fusion5 has announced its formal repositioning as a full-service transformation partner, completing a strategic shift driven by recent acquisitions, leadership changes, and expanded digital capabilities.
The move marks a significant evolution for the Australasian systems integrator, which began in 2003 with a mission to bridge the gap between large IT consultancies and smaller application software specialists. Over the past 18 months, Fusion5 has acquired complementary businesses and appointed new regional leadership in a bid to meet the growing complexity of IT ecosystems and business transformation demands.
"To keep pace with the intensifying complexity of IT ecosystems, Fusion5 acquired complementary 'best-in-class' IT practices to expand our in-house digital capability," said Sven Martin, CEO of Fusion5 Australia. "In particular, bringing IntegrationWorks into the fold in 2024 introduced significant skills, expertise, and referenceability – deepening our proficiency in systems integration."
The company has since added strategic consulting and advisory services, a client success programme, and a comprehensive suite of managed services, aiming to deliver integrated and high-value solutions across both Australia and New Zealand.
However, internal research indicated a disconnect between the company's expanded capabilities and market perception.
"Our evolution had out-paced market understanding," said Martin. "Fusion5 goes beyond the role of typical systems integrators, IT consultants, business solutions implementors, or even managed services providers – to stitch all of that digital capability (and more) together as a cross-functional transformation partner. This convergence of solutions, services, and capabilities enables us to utilise AI as a strategic lever for transformation."
Martin said the company's trans-Tasman team now offers "one-partner simplicity" and is well-positioned both strategically and practically to help customers "go beyond" the limits of conventional technology solutions.
Kristy Brown, who was appointed CEO of Fusion5 New Zealand in January, echoed this view, describing the repositioning as critical for meeting the evolving expectations of senior IT leaders.
"Today's CIO grapples with the ongoing tension of harnessing digital innovation while ensuring measurable IT performance," said Brown. "In other words – keeping the lights on while lighting up innovation. They must champion digital agility and prepare the business to leverage new technologies while optimising existing ones. Fusion5 offers a unique blend of business acumen and digital capability to bridge the vision-to-performance gap many business leaders face."
Fusion5's decision to realign itself as a transformation partner is also reflected in a recent brand overhaul, intended to bring external understanding in line with its expanded services and repositioned market identity.
The transformation has been building for over a year and a half, with key milestones including the acquisition of IntegrationWorks and the appointment of Brown to lead the New Zealand market, complementing Martin's focus on Australia. The leadership split was announced in January 2025, with Executive Chair Rebecca Tohill noting it as a key step in unlocking regional growth.
"Appointing dual CEOs in New Zealand and Australia is essential for realising the growth potential in both countries," Tohill said at the time. "It will allow us to harness local energy and drive without distraction as Fusion5 evolves from a business solutions provider to a transformation partner specialising in systems integration and delivering high-value, holistic solutions."
Brown, who joined Fusion5 in 2016 and played a pivotal role in developing its Microsoft practice, said she was honoured to lead the New Zealand arm of the business.
"I'm truly excited to be leading Fusion5 New Zealand," she said in January. "Being appointed to this role is a privilege and an opportunity for Fusion5 to bring significant performance improvements for our local customers. As we grow, we never want to lose sight of what's important to our customers and our people. With dual CEOs in place, we can do this – and more – effectively and at scale."
Fusion5 currently serves more than 1,200 customers across multiple countries and holds partnerships with major global technology platforms including Microsoft, Oracle, Workday, and IBM.
